Indianapolis, Indiana 46208 RE: CARMEL CITY CODE: WEEDS & GRASS/ PROPERTY MAINTENANCE Dear Sir or Madam: This letter is being provided to inform you that the property at 121 136`h St. W., a property list under your ownership, is in violation of Carmel City Code § 6-88 (Ordinance No. D- 1557-02) and Indiana Code §36-1-3-6 (b)(1). (c) Requirement to cut. All owners of real property ('property') located within the City shall cut and remove weeds and other rank vegetation growing thereon that exceeds an average height of six inches, and shall keep their property clear of debris. This property is also in violation of Carmel City Code §6-220, the Property Maintenance Code. The following are the sections of code in violation: (1) §6-222 (a)4 Vacant structures and land. All vacant structures and premises thereof or vacant land shall be maintained in a clean, safe, secure, healthful and sanitary condition as provided herein so as not to cause a blighting problem or adversely affect the public health or safety or violate the provisions of this Code. (2) §6-222 (c) 6 Roofs and drainage. The roof and flashing shall be sound, tight and not have defects that admit rain. Roof drainage shall be adequate to prevent dampness or deterioration in the walls or interior portion of the structure. Roof drains, gutters and down spouts shall be maintained in good repair and free from obstructions. Roof Drain discharges shall be discharged as a Legal Connection or a Legal Discharge. Inappropriate or temporary roofing coverings including but not limited to tarps shall be deemed inadequate protection and not uniform and as such shall be prohibited for a period exceeding seven (7) consecutive days. (3) §6-222 (c) 1 General. The exterior of a structure shall be maintained in good repair, structurally sound and sanitary so as not to pose a threat to the public health, safety or welfare. The property is to be maintained at all times. Please be advised, the high weeds and grass ('requirement to cut") violation is not corrected within seven (7) days (May 22, 2008) from the date of this letter this matter will be brought into compliance by the City of Carmel. You, as property owner(s) will be liable and billed for the cost of correcting the violation and all administrative costs. Violations of the Property Maintenance Code must be addressed by June 22, 2008.
