2. Docket No. 09120006 ADLS Amend: PNC Bank Signage
The applicant seeks approval to change signage from National City Bank to PNC Bank: 2 ground, 1 wall
and 3 directional signs. The site is located at 21 N. Range Line Rd. and is zoned C -2 in Old Town.
Filed by Kyle Freeman of Freeman Signs.
The applicant is requesting approval for a new wall, ground and new panels for an existing ground /pylon sign.
National City Bank is changing to PNC Bank and the new signage will reflect this change. The wall sign will be
installed in the same location as the existing sign above the main entrance. It will be 2.88 sq. ft. and will be non
illuminated. It will be in PNC's corporate colors: orange and white logo, and blue letters.
The ground sign will replace the existing ground sign at the corner of Range Line Rd. and Main St. It will have a
dark blue background and have the logo and letters mounted to it. This sign itself is non illuminated. There may be
external illumination already installed onsite. Petitioner, please confirm this. The sign is 18.16 sq. ft. and is
permitted by the Sign Ordinance.
The existing ground /pylon sign will have new panels installed. It will be the dark opaque blue background where
only the logo and letters shine through at night. The existing time /temp panel below the sign will be removed and
replaced with a plain dark blue panel to match the upper panel. This sign is 9.01 sq. ft. and is permissible because
the structure of the sign is not being changed.
There will also be new directional signs to reflect PNC's corporate colors. They will be installed in the same
locations as the existing signs and will be non- illuminated. They will be less than 3 sq. ft. in area and 3' tall. This
size is allowed by the Sign Ordinance.
Lastly, there will be change outs of other signs, i.e. handicapped parking signs, customer parking signs, warning
signs, clearance signs and bank hours. These signs are all less than 3 sq. ft. in area and are necessary for patron
information and public safety. No sign permits or approvals are required for these signs.
The Dept of Community Services (DOCS) recommends that the Committee vote to approve this item after
all comments /concerns are addressed. (This item only requires a Plan Commission Committee vote.)
