4. Docket No. 09120008 ADLS Amend: PNC Bank Signage
The applicant seeks approval to change signage from National City Bank to PNC Bank: 1 ground and 1
wall sign. The site is located 4775 E. 126"' St. and is zoned B -3 /Business in the Brookshire Village
shopping center. Filed by Kyle Freeman of Freeman Signs.
The applicant is requesting approval for a new wall sign and a new ground sign. National City Bank is changing to
PNC Bank and the new signage will reflect this change. The existing ground sign will be removed and a new,
modern looking sign will replace it. It will have a grey base with a dark blue sign area. Instead of a flat rectangular
sign, this sign will be curved. The logo will be orange and white, and the letters will be white and blue. Petitioner,
please confirm that only the letters and logo will shine through at night. The sign is 19.99 sq. ft. and 5'3" tall.
This size is permitted by the Sign Ordinance.
There will be a wall sign added to the east elevation. It will be individual, internally illuminated channel letters. The
logo will light up orange and white, and the letters white and blue. The size is 26.12 sq. ft. and is permitted by the
Sign Ordinance. This sign is allowed because the building faces two public streets: Gray Rd. and 126 St.
There will also be new directional signs to reflect PNC's corporate colors. They will be installed in the same
locations as the existing signs and will be non illuminated. They will be less than 3 sq. ft. in area and 3' tall. This
size is allowed by the Sign Ordinance.
Lastly, there will be change outs of other signs, i.e. handicapped parking signs, warning signs, clearance signs and
bank hours. These signs are all less than 3 sq. ft. in area and are necessary for patron information and public safety.
No sign permits or approvals are required for these signs.
The Dept of Community Services (DOCS) recommends that the Committee vote on this item after all
comments /concerns are addressed. (This item only requires a Plan Commission Committee vote.)
