Dear Board Members,
On Monday, December 1, 2003, Mr. Dierckman has agreed to act as Hearing Officer to
consider several Development Standards Variances for signage for projects in Carmel City Center
and Old Town. These petitions have been filed on behalf of the Carmel Redevelopment
Commission (CRC) to address signs that, in the case of Carmel City Center, have already been
established based upon CRC Architectural Review Committee and Plan Commission Hearing
Officer approvals, and, in the case of AMLI at Old Town, the City hopes to have established in
the near future. Due to the fact that the signage exceeds that allowed under the Carmel /Clay
Sign Ordinance, the signage also needs the approval of the Development Standards Variances
detailed in the attached documentation.
Pursuant to Article IX, Section 4, of the Board's Rules of Procedure, any member of the
BZA may communicate with the Office of the BZA if in the opinion of the member an
application should be placed upon the agenda for a regular meeting of the BZA. The Office of
the BZA shall then remove such application from the Hearing Officer's agenda and place it on
the agenda for the next regular meeting of the BZA.
