First Baptist Church of Carmel 1010 E. 126 Street, Carmel, Indiana
Dear Property Owner:
Our law office represents the First Baptist Church of Carmel, Inc. with respect to the above-
referenced development standards variance application. Enclosed you will find a notice of a public
hearing to be held before the Hearing Officer of the Carmel Board of Zoning Appeals. You are receiving
this notice because you are an owner of property adjoining the church property, which is located at 1010
E. 126 Street.
In summary, our client is requesting a variance that will permit the installation of a second wall
sign on the northwest side of the wall that extends above the roof of the church on which the current sign
is located. The new sign will be identical to the existing sign. The reason for the request is that the
existing sign, which faces south, has been rendered virtually unviewable by traffic on Keystone Parkway
due to the construction of the 126 Street roundabout and the reduction of the elevation of Keystone
Parkway as it approaches the roundabout. The new sign is intended to mitigate this problem by providing
identification of the church to southbound traffic on Keystone Parkway.
