Dear David,
Your membership in the League is going to expire next month. We count on your dues to
._promote_and protect the rights of c'clists like you —please renew today._
In the past five years, our education program has undergone quite a transformation.
We've changed the name, obviously from Bike Ed to Smart Cycling.
We have updated and redesigned the core Traffic Skills materials and added new
components such as group riding and a commuter curriculum.
We published the League Guide to Safe and Enjoyable Cycling (look for an
update in 20 10) and
we have partnered with the National Bicycle Dealers Association. the National
Multiple Sclerosis Society the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure.
and other organizations to expand the reach of our program.
We are certifiying an average of 300 new League Cycling Instructors each year. Our
cur and new instructors, in turn, reach tens of thousands of cyclists annually with
critical safety skills and riding techniques.
Yet much more remains to be done. Your membership will help us increase the reach of
our basic Smart Cycling programs and messages: our goal is to reach hundreds of
thousands of cyclists and motorists annually.
Cyclists are still not treated equitably on our streets and highways let alone welcomed
with open arms as we should be! The League is working every day to raise the profile of
cyclists and teach everyone the benefits of Smart Cycling.
In addition to our education program, we continue to transform businesses, communities
and states across the country with our Bicycle Friendly America initiative. Our advocacy_
work on Capitol Hill and in states and communities nationwide is more necessary than
ever, and our work to promote cycling could not be more timely or critical.
That's why we need you to renew your membership today.
Sincerely,
Andy Clarke
