WEDNESDAY, APRIL 14, 2010 6:00 P.M.
COUNCIL CHAMBERS/CITY HALL /ONE CIVIC SQUARE
MEMBERS PRESENT:
Mayor James Brainard, Council President Richard L. Sharp, Council Members W. Eric Seidensticker,
John V. Accetturo, Joseph C. Griffiths, Luci Snyder, Ronald E. Carter, Kevin Rider, Clerk- Treasurer
Diana L. Cordray and Deputy Clerk Treasurer Lois Fine.
Mayor Brainard called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m.
Councilor Rider pronounced the Invocation.
Mayor Brainard led the Pledge of Allegiance.
COUNCIL, MAYORAL AND CLERK- TREASURER COMMENTS /OBSERVATIONS:
Council President Sharp addressed the Council and explained the process of funding the Arts (see Exhibit
A attached to Resolution. CC -04- 14- 10 -01).
Councilor Accetturo addressed the Council regarding allowing the public to speak this evening.
CLAIMS:
There were none.
NEW BUSINESS
Council President Sharp announced Resolution CC- 04- 14- 10 -01; A Resolution of the Common Council
of the City of Carmel, Indiana, Disbursing Arts Fund. Monies ($434,000). Councilor Snyder made a
motion to move this item into business. Councilor Griffiths seconded. Mayor Brainard presented this
item to the Council. Councilor Snyder made a motion to reduce the Actors Theatre of Indiana funding
from $35,000 to $30,000. Councilor Seidensticker seconded. There was brief Council discussion.
Council President Sharp called for the vote. The motion Failed 3 -4 (Councilors Griffiths, Sharp, Carter
and Rider opposed). Councilor Accetturo made a motion to reduce the Carmel Arts Council funding from
$58,000 to $25,000. The motion died for lack of a second. Councilor Seidensticker made a motion to
strike, Actors Theatre of Indiana, Cannel Arts Council, Chinese Performing Arts, Inc., Gregory Hancock
Dance Theatre, International Talent Academy, Museum of Miniature Houses and Carmel Fountain Square
from the funding pending their resubmission of their complete financial data to the Council. Councilor
Accetturo seconded. There was brief Council discussion. Mayor Brainard addressed the Council.

Council President Sharp called for the vote. The motion Failed 3 -4 (Councilors Griffiths, Snyder, Carter
and Rider opposed). There was no Council discussion. Councilor Griffiths made a motion to approve
Resolution CC- 04- 14- 10 -01. Councilor Rider seconded. There was no Council discussion. Council
President Sharp called for the vote. Resolution CC- 04- 14- 1.0 -01 was adopted 6 -1 (Councilor Accetturo
opposed).

Mayor Brainard adjourned the meeting at 6:24 p.m.
