DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY SERVICES Division of Building and Code Serti ices VIA CERTIFIED MAIL June 24, 2008 Mildred Hughey 515 Emerson Road Carmel, IN 46032 RE: ZONING ORDINANCE VIOLATION —NO CONSTRUCTION PERMIT Dear Ms. Hughey: On March 31, 2008, a Stop Work Order was posted on the property located at 515 Emerson Road, in the City of Carmel, a property listed under your ownership. At that time, you were notified that the structure that was being reconstructed in the rear yard of your property was required under Carmel/Clay Zoning Ordinance to have proper building permits. According to Section 29.04 of the Carmel/Clay Zoning Ordinance which states the following: § 7-9 Application for Permits and Builder Information (a) It shall be unlawful for any person or entity to construct, alter, repair, remove or demolish any building or structure, or to commence construction or the alteration of real estate, without first filing a written application with the Director and obtaining an improvement location permit or other appropriate permit regarding same, unless the submission of same is expressly excused by applicable law. As of the date of this letter, no permit has been obtained to legally establish the construction work on the room addition appearing on your property. If you do not obtain the required permit or remove the illegal room addition by July 3, 2008, we will take the matter to Carmel City Court for remediation.
