RE: ZONING ORDINANCE VIOLATION — NO SIGN PERMIT
Dear Sir or Madam:
This letter is being provided to inform you that a sign violation has been brought to this
department's attention. The signs are located at 12346 Old Meridian Street South, in the City of
Carmel. All signs located in Clay Township are required to have sign permits according to Section
25.07.07 of the'Carmel/Clay Zoning Ordinance which states the following:
Except.as otherwise provided in this Ordinance, it shall be unlawful for any person
to establish any sigh within the jurisdictional area of this Ordinance, or cause the
same to be done without first obtaining a sign permit for each sign from the
Administrator as required by this Ordinance.
The new signs that have been installed have no permit. In order to begin the sign permit
application process, please contact Rachel. Boone at (317) 571=241.7. If you have any questions or

Dear Mr. Pohl:
As a follow up to my letter dated June 17, 2009, and your request for further information
regarding the existence in the early 1990's of the above -referenced billboard owned by Olympus
Media/Indiana, LLC, I am enclosing the following:
1. Lease Agreement, dated May 22, 1992, having Leonard Cornwell, as Lessor, and
our predecessor -in -interest, Indiana Outdoor Advertising, Inc. ("IOA") as Lessee; and
2. Rental Contract for Outdoor Advertising Space for this billboard, dated August
14, 1998.
As Olympus Media acquired this structure from IOA, we do not have all historical
documentation such as leases or other advertising contracts for the site. However, the enclosed
documents clearly demonstrate the existence of the billboard in 1992, and will hopefully resolve
this matter.

Dear Mr. Pohl:
We are in receipt of your letter dated May 12, 2009, regarding the above -referenced sign
that is owned by Olympus Media/Indiana, LLC.
This sign was constructed on or before June 1, 1991, in its present location prior to
annexation of this location by the City of Cannel. Therefore, this sign was an existing, non-
conforming use on the annexed property and there was no need for a permit since the sign was
established at the time the referenced ordinance became applicable.
