THE CONTRACTOR OR CON- TRACTORS ARE RESPONSIBLE TO PAY FOR ALL REQUIRED PERMITS BY ANY OR ALL AGENCIES MENTIONED ABOVE UN- LESS OTHERWISE NOTED IN THE CONTRACT OR SPECIFI- CATIONS. 2. EXISTING PAVEMENT, SIDEWALKS CURBS DRIVEWAYS, ELECTRICAL TRANSFORMERS AND PADS, DITCHES, DRAINAGE PIPES, AND STRUCTURES, FENCES, LAWNS, TREES, BUSHES, MAILBOXES, SIGNS, POWER POLES ETC., TO REMAIN AND BE PROTECTED FROM DAMAGE BY THE CONTRACTOR. ANY DAMAGE DURING CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE RESTORED, RECONSTRUCTED OR REPLACED BY THE CONTRACTOR AT HIS EXPENSE. ALL DAMAGES SHALL BE RESTORED OR REPLACED TO AT LEAST THEIR ORIGINAL CONDITION OR AS REQUIRED OR DICTATED BY FEDERAL, STATE, COUNTY, CITY OR LOCAL AGENCIES. 3. THE UTILITIES INDICATED ON THESE PLANS AND ON THE SURVEY MAY NOT BE A COMPLETE INVENTORY OF ALL THE EXISTING UTILITIES PRESENT ON AND AROUND THIS SITE. THE LOCATION AND SIZE OF THESE UTILITIES MAY BE APPROXIMATE. THIS INFORMATION WAS GATHERED OR SUPPLIED BY OTHERS AND USED BY THE A/E AND MAY NOT BE ACTUAL. THE A/E SHALL NOT BE HELD LIABLE FOR ANY INCORRECT OR MISLEADING UTILITY INFORMATION INDICATED, IMPLIED OR NOT INDICATED ON THESE PLANS. 4. IT IS THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO NOTIFY ALL THE UTILITY COMPANIES AND DEPARTMENTS 72 HOURS BEFORE CONSTRUCTION IS TO START TO VERIFY ANY UTILITIES THAT MAY BE PRESENT ON SITE. ALL VERIFI- CATIONS, LOCATIONS, SIZE AND DEPTHS SHALL BE MADE BY THE APPROPRIATE UTILITY COMPANIES OR DEPARTMENTS. WHEN EXCAVATING AROUND OR OVER EXISTING UTILITIES, THE CONTRACTOR MUST NOTIFY THE UTILITY COMPANY SO A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE UTILITY CAN BE PRESENT DURING THE EXCAVATION TO INSTRUCT AND OBSERVE DURING THE EXCAVATION. 5. ALL CONTRACTORS BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE EXCAVATING CONTRACTOR OR CONTRACTORS MUST TAKE PARTICULAR CARE WHEN EXCAVATING IN AND AROUND EXISTING UTILITY LINES AND EQUIPMENT. ACTUAL FIELD LOCATIONS OF ALL THE EXISTING UTILITIES ARE THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONS- IBILTY AND MUST BE LOCATED EITHER BY THE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE UTILITY COMPANY OR BY A PRIVATE UNDERGROUND UTILITY LOCATION COMPANY PRIOR TO THE START OF EXCAVATING. VERIFY MINIMUM COVER REQUIREMENTS BY THE UTILITY CONTRACTOR OR CONTRACTORS OR AGENCIES WHICHEVER UTILITY COMPANIES OR AGENCIES THAT HAS JURISDICTION SO NOT TO CAUSE DAMAGE. 6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE TO PROVIDE AT HIS EXPENSE ALL AUTOMOBILE AND PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES REQUIRED BY FEDERAL, STATE, COUNTY, CITY OR LOCAL AGENCIES. 7. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO INSPECT EACH DAY AND REMOVE ALL MUD, DIRT, GRAVEL AND LOOSE MATERIALS TRACKED, DUMPED, SPILLED OR WIND BLOWN FROM THE SITE ONTO OTHER SITES, RIGHT OF WAYS, PUBLIC OR PRIVATE STREETS OR ROADS, DRAIVEWAYS, YARDS OR SIDEWALKS. THE CONTRACTOR MUST CLEAN OR PICK UP DAILY IF NECESSARY. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REDUCE THE AIRBORNE DUST DURING THE ENTIRE CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE. WATER MAY BE USED AS A REDUCER. 8. HEAVY CONSTRUCTION AND EQUIPMENT TRAFFIC MAY CREATE PUMPING AND GENERAL DETERIORATION OF THE SHALLOWER SOILS IF EXCESS SURFACE WATER IS PRESENT. PROPER PRECAUTIONARY STEPS MUST BE TAKEN DURING THE ENTIRE CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE TO ALLEVIATE SUCH DAMAGE. 9. ALL CONSTRUCTION METHODS AND MATERIALS MUST CONFORM TO CURRENT STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE FEDERAL, STATE, COUNTY, CITY OR LOCAL REQUIREMENTS, WHICHEVER HAS JURISDICTION. 10. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY ALL DIMENSIONS AND ELEVATIONS IN THE FIELD PRIOR TO THE START OF CON- STRUCTION. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL FIELD DIMENSIONS AND ELEVATIONS DURING THE ENTIRE CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE. IF ANY DISCREPANCIES ARE FOUND IN THESE ENGINEERING PLANS OR LANDSCAPE PLANS FROM ACTUAL FIELD CONDITIONS, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT THE A/E IMMEDIATELY. IF ANY DISCREP- ANCIES ARE FOUND ON THE SURVEY PLAN FROM ACTUAL FIELD FIELD CONDITIONS THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT THE A/E IMMEDIATELY FOR INSTRUCTIONS. 11. PROVIDE POSITIVE DRAINAGE IN ALL PAVED AREAS WITH OUT PONDING WATER. THE PAVING CONTRACTOR SHALL TEST ALL PAVED AREAS FOR BIRD BATH CONDITIONS BY FLOODING THE ENTIRE PAVEMENT AREA WITH WATER AND MARKING THE PONDED AREAS PRIOR TO THE INSTALLATION OF THE TOPPING COURSE. CORRECTIONS SHALL BE MADE IF NECESSARY. 12. ALL PROPOSED SPOT ELEVATIONS ARE THE FINAL TOP OF PAVEMENT, TOP OF CURB OR FINAL GRADE ELEVATION. 13. TO DETERMINE THE SUBGRADE ELEVATION REQUIRED BELOW A PROPOSED FINAL ELEVATION, SEE APPROPRIATE DETAIL. 14. TRENCHES FOR ALL UTILITIES SHALL BE BACKFILLED COM- PLETELY WITH APPROVED ENGINEERED GRANULAR MATERIAL SUITABLE TO THE A /E. SEE THE APPROPRIATE DETAILS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE APPROVED MATERIALS. 15. ALL EXCAVATED AREAS TO BE SEEDED OR SODDED AFTER FINAL GRADING UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. SEE LAND- SCAPE PLAN AND /OR EROSION CONTROL PLAN FOR DIRECTION AND VERIFICATION. 16. ALL AREAS WHERE THE EXISTING PAVEMENT OR PAVEMENTS ARE DAMAGED DURING CONSTRUCTION FROM HEAVY EQUIP- MENT, FUEL OIL, OIL, GASOLINE ETC., BY THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR, SUBCONTRACTOR, OR SUPPLIERS, SHALL BE RECONSTRUCTED TO IT'S ORIGINAL CONDITION OR AS REQUIRED OR DICTATED BY FEDERAL, STATE, COUNTY, CITY OR LOCAL AGENCIES. THIS RECONSTRUCTION AND OR REPAIR SHALL TAKE PLACE AT THE END OF THE PROJECT CONSTRUCTION OR DURING THE SCHEDULED PAVING. 17. PROVIDE A SMOOTH TRANSITION FROM NEWLY PAVED AREAS TO EXISTING AREAS AS NECESSARY. 18. ALL HANDICAP RAMPS NOT JUST THOSE PERPENDICULAR TO THE CURB SHALL NOT EXCEED A SLOPE OF 1" IN 12" LONGITUDINALLY. HANDICAP RAMPS AND SIGNS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ADA REQUIREMENTS. SEE SITE PLAN FOR LOCATION OF RAMPS AND SIGNS AND THE DETAILS FOR SPECIFICATIONS. 19. PIPE LENGTHS INDICATED ARE FOR HYDRAULIC DESIGN PURPOSES ONLY.
