2. Docket No. 10050003 ADLS Amend: Jiffy Lube Signage
The applicant seeks approval for one new wall sign, 2 directional signs and 5 incidental signs. The site is
located at 1270 S. Range Line Rd. and is zoned 1 -1 /Industrial within the Carmel Dr. -Range Line Rd.
Overlay district. Filed by Amanda Gates of Sign Craft Industries.
Jiffy Lube is going through a re- branding of all its locations right now. The Range Line Road store has already been
painted to the new colors of tan, gray and red. The new colors are a great improvement over the previous color
scheme. The Petitioner proposes to remove the existing wall sign cabinet and place a new sign along the roof line.
The new sign band will span the entire length of the building and is half gray and half maroon with a red accent
color between the two. This red accent will not be illuminated. Petitioner, please confirm. The sign copy portion
is 41.17 sq. ft. 45 sq. ft. is allowed. Petitioner, how will this portion of the sign be illuminated? The Petitioner
has also proposed to change out the faces on the existing entrance /exit directional signs. The new faces will have
gray backgrounds with white lettering. Lastly, the Petitioner proposes to add incidental signs for customer
information. These signs are less than three square feet and will be placed on the east and west sides of the building
next to the garage bays. The only issue with this location is the new wall sign. The Department would prefer to
see the entire sign band be expanded to the same height of the roof, so that the roof does not show
behind /beyond the sign band. Also, Petitioner please confirm that the new sign will lay flat against the
existing slanted roof. The concern is for the transition at the ends of the new sign. The Department would
like for it to blend smoothly with the roof line.
After all questions and concerns are addressed, the Dept of Community Services (DOCS) recommends that
the Committee approves this item.
