3. Docket No. 10050007 ADLS Amend: Old Meridian Professional Center Signage
The applicant seeks approval for two modified ground signs and 2 directory signs. The site is located at
12425 Old Meridian St. 1185 Carmel Dr. and is zoned OM /O Old Meridian Office. Filed by Doug
Staley, Jr. of Staley Signs, Inc.
The Petitioner requests approval to change out two existing monument signs to allow for tenant panels and to add
two directory signs to the property. The existing monument signs were approved by variances in 2000 (V- 103 -00
and V- 104 -00). The monument sign will fit into the same space as the existing sign which simply identifies the
name of the center. The change will add 4 panels for tenants within the complex. Because this is a multi- tenant,
multi building complex, not all tenants have to be represented on the sign. The sign is 23 sq. ft. 44 sq. ft. was
approved by the 2000 variances.
The directory signs will be 20 sq. ft. and 5' tall. This is allowed by the Sign Ordinance. The design of the directory
signs will be similar to the new monument signs. They will be placed near the Carmel Dr. entrance and the Old
Meridian St. entrance to help identify the center to drivers. The directory signs will not be illuminated.
The only issue for this project is that the tenant panels on both the monument signs and the directory signs
are proposed to be the colors of the tenants. The Department would prefer these panels be the same color:
white background with a single color for tenant names. Tenant logo colors and font styles would be
respected. This would help to create a more unified, aesthetically pleasing sign. It is a common practice throughout
Carmel in Multi- tenant building complexes and the Department would prefer to continue allowing tenant signs in
this fashion.
Please refer to the petitioner's informational packets for more detail.
After all questions and concerns are addressed, the Dept of Community Services (DOCS) recommends that
the Committee approves this item.
