SECTION 806 — INSULATION
Thermal and acoustical insulation installed on walls or ceilings
shall comply with Section 707.
807.1 Floors and Walls in Water Closet Compartment and
Showers.
807.1.1 Floors. In other than dwelling Units, toilet room floors
shall have a smooth, hard nonabsorbent surface such as pordand
cement, concrete, ceramietile. or other approved material that ex-
tends upward onto the walls at least 5 inches (127 n1m):
807.1.2 Walls. Walls within 2 feet (610 n1m) of..thefront and
sines of urinals and water closets shall have a smooth, hard non -
absorbent surface of portland cement, concrete, ceramic the or
other smooth, hard nonabscrbent surface to a height of feet
(1219 mm),and except for structural elements, the materials used
in such walls shall'be of a type that is not adversely affected by
moisture. See Section 25126r other limitations.
EXCEPTIONS: 1. Dwelling units and guest rooms.
2. Toilet rooms that are not accessible to the public and that have not
more than one water closet.
In all occupancies, accessories such as grab bars! towel bars, pa-
per dispensers and soap dishes. provided on or within walls, shall
be installed and sealer) to protect structural elements from mois-
ture.
807.1.3 Showers. Showers in all occupancies shall be finished
as specified in Sections 807.1.1 and 807.1.2 to a height of not less
than 70 inches (078 mm) above the drain inlet. Materials other
than structural elementsusedinsuch -walls shall be of a type that is
not adversely affected by moisture. See Section 2512 for other
limitations.
807.1.4 Shower doors. For shower doors, see Sections 2406.4
and 2407.
807.2 Water Closet Room Separation. See Section 302.6 for
requirements to separate water closet rooms.
