Assistant Superintendent Curriculum, Instruction Assessment Roger McMichael, M.B.A. Assistant Superintendent Business Affairs Shirley Wilson Supervisor Human Resources Carmel Clay Schools is requesting your approval for a curb cut from the Carmel High School west bus loading parking lot to 4' Avenue NE. This curb cut will provide for exit only egress of Carmel Clay Schools' buses during high school dismissal. Dismissal time for Carmel High School is approximately 3:15pm daily during the school year. The egress drive will be closed by means of a rolling style gate at all other times. The gate will match the existing black picket style fence. A photo of the existing fence is enclosed herewith. The fence material will be on the west face of the rolling gate structure so the appearance from 4 Avenue NE will match that of the adjacent fence. This exit curb cut is requested to alleviate traffic control conflict with entering parent traffic at the Freshman Center entrance drive at 4 Avenue NE and 2 Street NE and exiting buses. This will also allow for the reduction of traffic control personnel required at the Freshman Center entry drive. The proposed location of the curb cut for this exit is in the approximate location of a previously existing entrance /exit that was removed at the time of the construction of the Freshman Center at the request of the City Engineer's office. An aerial photograph is enclosed showing the previous entrance. We have prepared a drawing showing the location of the requested curb cut and a copy is enclosed. We look forward to your favorable action on this request. If there are any questions they can be addressed to the undersigned. We will have representatives present at any requested meetings where this matter is under consideration. Sincerely, Carmel Clay Schools Ron Farrand, Jr. Director Facilities and Transportation
