The drainagewoys impacted by the retail development shall be reploced by o pair
of new waterways. The droinogeway which enters the retail site from the
northwest corner shall be replaced by a new channel opproximotely 1,935 feet
long to be constructed olong the west side of the parcel. The newly constructed
channel sholl hove on overolr bottom width of 5 feet, being sloped to provide o
low flow chonnel 2 feet wide. The second droinogeway which enters the site
from the northeast corner shall be replaced by o new channel approximately
1,230 feet long. This second new chonnel shall be constructed along the eost
side of the proposed romps. The newly constructed chonnel sholl hove o bottom
width of 3 feet. It is anticipated these droinogeways will corry woter only
following o locol rain event as the upstream detention basins discharge into
them. Substantially all of the adjoining site drainage from the proposed retail
development will be dischorged by other conveyances.
The impact to the existing detention basin shall be mitigated by excavating at
least on equol volume of water storage and surfoce oreo extending generally
north from the bank of the remaining portion of the detention area east of the
proposed romps. The newly expanded detention basin shall be constructed with
o shallow safety shelf around its perimeter before the slopes steepen to the
depth of the basin.
The newly constructed channels shall include o series of meandering curves to
more nearly replicate a natural drainageway. The outer bank in oreos of the
curves shop be protected by fiber erosion control mats os oppropriote. Portions
of the channel beds sholl be covered with pit run grovel of various sizes to
provide bottom structure.
The new drainogeways shall flow through a vegetoted band consisting of trees of
graduated size clossifications including lorger f diometer) londscope quality
balled and burlopped trees, smaller size (1 1V diameter) nursery run belled
and burlopped trees, 3 -5' toll container grown seedlings, bore root seedlings,
shrubs, and herboceous plants. All trees and shrubs shall be deciduous plont
species.
The lorger londscope trees shall be planted on generally 100' spocing. The
smaller balled trees shall be planted on generolly 50' spocing. Contoiner grown
seedlings shall be planted on 20' spocing. Bore root tree and shrub seedlings
shall be planted on 10' spocing. All trees shall be selected from the following list
of approved species. Trees and shrubs shall be planted in o random manner
with regard to species composition.
The following seed mixture shall be planted within the limits of the newly
constructed chonnel:
Agrostis alba palustris
Asclepias incornoto
Bidens cernuo
Carex comosa
Carex hystericino
Carex vulpinoideo
Eupotorium perfoliotum

The seedlings sholl be bore root nursery stock with a minimum height of
18 inches or container grown seedlings with o minimum height of 3 feet. The
bore coot seedlings shall have o minimum root collar caliper equol to or greater
than /i with a well developed fibrous root system in bolonce with the top. The
container grown seedlings shall be provided in 3 gallon containers with a
minimum root collar caliper equal to or greater than 3/8 with a well developed
fibrous root system general) uniformly distributed throughout the container. The
seedlings shall be obtained from licensed nursery sources in occordance with
Section 914.08 of the INDOT Standard Specifications. A list of suppliers sholl be
furnished to the Owner for opprovol prior to ordering plant material. All seedlings
sholl be in accordance with Sections 914.08(d) and (e) of the INDOT Standard
Specifications.
The buffer planting area shall be planted either by hand or mechanically with
bare root hardwood seedlings. Seedlings shall be planted in accordance with
sound horticulturol practices, including assuring appropriate root pruning, proper
plonting depth, and soil compoction following plonting. Seedlings shall be
planted so the root collar is even with the ground surfoce. The roots shoal be
extended downward into the hole or planting slit. Roots sholl not be forced into
on improper planting hole which would restrict their obility to grow and support
the seedling to permit survival. The contoiner grown seedlings shall be plonted
by a method to be approved by the owner. The plonting oreos shall be os shown
on the accomponying pion or os directed by the Owner. The Contractor shall
provide a written statement in the bid packet for the Owner's opprovol describing
the method to be used in the execution of this work.
