HomeMy WebLinkAboutD-1997-10 Establishing Certain Yield SignsAN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL, INDIANA, ESTABLISHING CERTAIN YIELD SIGNS WHEREAS, the City of Carmel, Indiana, has the authority to establish yield intersections pursuant to Carmel City Code Chapter 8, Article 4, Section 8- 30(a), which yield intersections are listed on "Schedule A which has been codified as City Code Section 8 -120; and WHEREAS, upon the recommendation of the Director of the City's Street Department, the Common Council desires to amend "Schedule A" to add certain yield intersections. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Common Council of the City of Carmel, Indiana, as follows: Add: Section 1. The foregoing Recitals are incorporated herein by this reference. Section 2. Pursuant to City Code Section 8- 30(a), "Schedule A codified as City Code Section 8 -120, shall be and the same is hereby amended as follows: STREET NAME Unnamed alley between Southbound 1 Street SE and Main St. Unnamed alley between Northbound 1st Street SE and Main St. ORDINANCE NO. D 1997 10 DIRECTION SIGN OF TRAVEL Yield Yield Sponsor: Councilor Carter INTERSECTING STREET Unnamed alley between Rangeline Rd. and 1 Ave. SE Unnamed alley between Rangeline Rd. and 1 Ave. SE Section 3. The Street Department is directed to promptly install appropriate signage consistent with this request. Section 4. All other current provisions of City Code Sections 8 -30(a) and 8 -120 shall remain in full force and effect and are not affected by this Ordinance. Prepared by Douglas C. All prior ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with any provision of this Ordinance are hereby repealed, to the extent of such inconsistency only, as of the effective date of this Ordinance. However, the repeal or amendment by this Ordinance of any other ordinance does not affect any rights or liabilities accrued, penalties incurred or proceedings begun prior to the effective date of this Ordinance. Those rights, liabilities and proceedings are continued and penalties shall be imposed and enforced under such repealed or amended ordinance as if this Ordinance had not been adopted. Section 6. If any portion of this Ordinance is for any reason declared to be unconstitutional or invalid, such decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this Ordinance so long as enforcement of same can be given the same effect. Section 7. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and signing by the Mayor.
