3. Docket No. 10080006 ADLS Amend: Jackson Hewitt Tax Service Signage
The applicant seeks approval to change the exterior color of the building and add a sign. The site
is located at 10602 N. College Ave. and is zoned B -2 /Business within the Home Place Business
District. Filed by Brenda Shipp of Bowling- Shipp, LLC d.b.a. Jackson Hewitt.
The applicant seeks sign and building modification approval. The sign will be 24.72 sq. ft. The size allowed by the
Sign Ordinance is 30 sq. ft. It will be internally illuminated individual channel letters mounted on a raceway. The
building is proposed to be painted tan with red accents. Sherwin Williams color samples are provided in your
packets. The unenclosed dumpster on the site will be removed. The landscaping area on the site is limited, but is
satisfactorily done.
The Department has the following concerns /requests:
1. Please center the sign over the main door or in the center of the building facade (this is the Dept's preference.)
2. Please commit to painting the raceway to match the new building color, to help the raceway blend in.
3. Please provide an updated sign rendering showing the sign on the building with the Sherwin Williams colors.
4. Please confirm that the Coordinating Colors on the Sherwin Williams cut sheets will or will not be utilized on
the building, and if they will be used, where?
5. It appears that the garage is proposed to be painted the new building color as well. Is this garage door meant to
be painted? The Department is concerned it will be an ongoing maintenance issue.
After all comments /concerns are addressed, the Dept of Community Services (DOCS) recommends that the
Committee approves this item.

4. Docket No. 10080012 ADLS Amend: Generations in Dentistry Signage
The applicant seeks approval to replace an existing ground sign with.a new sign. The site is
located at 13331 Illinois St. and is zoned B -5 /Business. Filed by Jeff Gibbons of Pro Med Signs
and Doug Peet of Generations in Dentistry.
The petitioner is seeking approval of a new ground sign design to replace their existing ground sign. This sign is
proposed to be internally illuminated, as opposed to the existing which is externally illuminated. It will be 43.33 sq.
ft. and 6' tall. 45 sq. ft. is permitted by the Sign Ordinance. It will have a dark blue background and white text with
the exception of the phone number. It will be in yellow. There is a logo on the sign that will be more representative
of the actual logo. The petitioner has stated they will have a clearer logo to show at the meeting. There will be two
lines of changeable copy. This is permitted by the Sign Ordinance. The base of the sign will be wrapped in
aluminum finished with a stucco -like texture. This will help to give the appearance of a stone base.
After all comments /concerns are addressed, the Dept of Community Services (DOCS) recommends that the
Committee approves this item.
