DEPARTMENT REPORT
SEPTEMBER 7, 2010
1. Docket No. 10080001 ADLS Amend: Parkwood Crossing, Building 6, Duke Realty Sign.
The applicant seeks approval to amend the color restrictions of the center to allow a new color in
their sign. The site is located at 600 E. 96th St. and is zoned B -6 /Business. Filed by Don Miller of
A Sign By Design on behalf of the owner.
The applicant is re- branding and would like to have Duke Realty instead of Duke. The entire sign will be
new and updated from neon lighting to LED lighting. It will be centered in the allowable sign area. The
current Duke sign is 37.6 sq. ft. The new sign will be 88.4 sq. ft. This is under the allowable 90 sq. ft. The
Realty portion will be show green during the day and night. This strays from the existing sign package
that all the signs are black during the day and white at night. The applicant is asking that this color option
only be applied to Duke Realty, the owner of the development.
After all comments /concerns are addressed, the Dept of Community Services (DOCS) recommends that the
Committee approves this item.

2. Docket No. 10080002 ADLS Amend: Carmel Office Park Building 4, Sollenberger Partners
Signage. The applicant seeks approval for a new ground sign. The site is located at 1000 3rd
Ave. SW and is zoned I -1 /Industrial. Filed by Amy Rottman of Sign A Rama on behalf of the
owner.
The applicant is seeking approval of a new ground identification sign for a recently constructed building. The
building is set up to have four tenants. Each tenant would have a space on the ground sign under the address. The
sign will be externally illuminated from lights installed in the ground. The letters will be applied vinyl to an
aluminum back, a common type of exterior sign construction. The design of the sign utilizes the same materials and
colors of the building, to tie the sign in with the building. The only design suggestion the Department has would be
to extend the base to match the width of the sign. Petitioner, is this possible? The font and text color for all tenant
names will be the same as shown on the illustration. The sign will be 5'10" tall and will be 24.28 sq. ft. This size is
under the 60 sq. ft. and 6' tall allowable size of the Sign Ordinance. Lastly, Petitioner, please confirm there will
be landscaping equal to the sign area around the sign.
After all comments /concerns are addressed, the Dept of Community Services (DOCS) recommends that the
Committee approves this item.
