Prepare soil. G. Install plant mcrterial. D. Backfill with specified soil mix. E. Wrap guy and stake trees. F. Apply mulch. 1.2 SUBMITTALS A Mulch. B. Fertilizer analysis. 13 PROJECT CONDITIONS A. Protect existing utilities, paving and other facilities from damage caused by planting operations. 1.4 SUBMITTALS A Product certificates signed by manufacturers certifying that their products comply with specified requirements. 1. Manufacturer's certified analysis for standard products. 2. Analysis for other materials by a recognized laboratory made according to methods established by the Association of Official Analytical Chemists, where applicable. B. Samples of each of the following: 1. 31b of mineral mulch for each color and -texture of stone required for Project, in labeled plastic bags. 2. Edging materials and accessories to verify color selected. C. Qualification data for firms and persons specified in the Quality Assurance" Article to demonstrate their capabilities and experience. Include lists of completed projects with project names and addresses, names and address of Architects and Owners, and other information specified. D. Planting schedule Indicating anticipated dates and loco for each type of planting. E. Maintenance instructions recommending procedures to be established by Owner for maintenance of landscape work during entire year. Submit before expiration of required maintenance periods. F. Selection and Inspection: The Owner and Architect retains right to inspect trees and shrubs for size and conditions of balls and root systems, insects, Injuries and latent defects, and to reject unsatisfactory or defective material at any time during progress of work. Remove rejected trees or shrubs immediately from project site. PART 2 PRODUCTS 2.1 MATERIALS A Trees, Shrubs and Plants: Provide trees, shrubs and plants of quantity, size, genus, species and variety complying with recommendations and requirements of ANSI 200.1 "'American Standard for Nursery Stock". Provide healthy, vigorous stock, grown In recognized nursery in accordance with good horticultural practice and free of disease, insects, eggs, larvae and defects such as knots, sun-scald, injuries, abrasions, or disfigurement. All plants to bear same relationship to grade when planted as in nursery. B. Backfilling of Planting Pits and Planting Beds: Use bockfill as specified herein as a mixture containing 1 part topsoil and 2 parts soil excavated from pits and beds. C. Nutrients: Introduce The following nutrients per cubic yard of soil mixture: 1. 5 lbs. Bonemeal. 2. 8 lbs. 7-40-6 slow release commercial fertilizer. D. Mulch: Shredded "Midi" bark 1"-5 in size. E. Stone: Local washed granite shall be 1 h" to 1 ih" in size. F. Soil separator: A woven, flat polypropylene yarn shall be "DeWitt Weed Barrier" or approved equal. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.1 INSTALLATION A Layout Individual tree and shrub locations and areas for multiple plantings. Stake locations and outline areas and secure Architect's acceptance before start a planting work. Make minor adjustments as may be requested. B. Excavate tree pit and drill an 8 inch diameter hole to a maximum depth of 8 feet or until a sand or gravel seam is reached. Fill french drain with stone and cover with a soil separator. C. Set balled and buriapped (B$B) stock on layer of compacted planting soil mixture, plumb and in center of pit or trench with top of ball at same elevation as adjacent finished landscape grades. When set, place additional backfill around base and sides of ball, and work each layer to settle backfill and eliminate voids and air pockets. When excavation is approximately iwo-thirds full, water Thoroughly before placing remainder of backfill. Repeat watering until no more is absorbed. Water again after placing final layer of backfill. 3.2 MAINTENANCE A Begin maintenance immediately meter plarrting. Landscape Contractor shall maintain trees, shrubs and all plants until final acceptance, but in no case less than 30 days after substantial completion of planting. B. Maintain trees, shrubs and other plants by pruning, cultivating and weeding as required for healthy growth. Restore planting mulch. Reset trees and shrubs to proper grades or vertical position as required. Spray as required to keep trees and shrubs free of insects and disease. 3.3 INSPECTION AND ACCEPTANCE A When landscape work is completed, including maintenance, Architect will, upon request, make an inspection to determine acceptabiltty. B. When inspected landscape work does not comply with requirements, replace rejected work and continue specified maintenance until re-inspected by Architect and found to be acceptable. Remove rejected plants and materials promptly from project sfte. C. Al plants shall be guaranteed for one growing season.
