Limiting colors and signage puts a competitive disadvantage on business

Working with Dept (Mike Rachel)
Department Comments, Rachel Boone:
Suggests 4 or 5 color limitation
Uncertain how to take on color issue
Currently restricted to red
Do not want to limit tenants due to signage
Dept would like some control over colors of the letters
Too many colors look too busy, not cohesive
Signs could be day /night plex (color during the day, white at night)
Recommend approval after all concerns addressed
Committee Comments:
Signs in this center need to be up -dated
Restricting—businesses with different color sign would have to return
Why restrict?
Would rather leave it open on color and in hands of Dept.
Logo colors are allowed
Logo is restricted to 25% of total sign
Size restrictions on signage under Ordinance
Michael Hollibaugh:
"Less is More" is City's position on limiting sign colors in strip centers
Fewer colors and signage reduce clutter
