After reviewing your proposal further, it seems you won't need additional approvals from us, and I spoke with the Building and Code Services Department and they said you will not need to get a building permit. Thanks for double checking with us, and I hope all goes well with the installation. Thank you for the reply, guidance and links to further evaluate our modification here at Alexandria of Carmel Apartments. Part of our water conservation efforts entails sub metering the units within our community. We need to incorporate a collection antenna into our monitoring system to receive this information on a consistent basis. We are a multi family business in, what I believe to be, the Old Meridian District. Please review my over -view of our proposal and let me know what our next step should be to improve our operations. The collection antenna is white and less than 48 inches in height (see attached photo 134). We would mount it to the gable of our middle building to collect data on our entire community, factoring -in future development as well. Its placement would be on the back side of building nine within our community and not facing the street (see photo 135). We would paint the mounting bracket to blend -in with our Hardi -board siding and the white portion of the antenna would extend beyond the ridge of the gable. Let me know if you need any additional information. Thank you! I am looking into seeing what zoning requirements may be necessary for the proposed antenna at Alexandria. May I please capitalize on your insight? Will you please review the response from the City of Carmel and tell me how to categorize the antenna and reply to them properly? Thank you! Adrienne From: Donahue -Wold, Alexia K [awold @carmel.in.gov] Sent: Tuesday, November 09, 2010 4 :58 PM To: Alex Maint Subject: Mounting Antennas Dear Adrienne Orme, I was asked to respond to your question about adding a four foot antenna to the top of one of your apartment buildings. The City of Carmel has several regulations for antenna depending on what type of antenna it is. Do you know what type of antenna you would like to install? Chapter 3 of the Carmel Zoning Ordinance defines 3 different 2 antenna: Dish -Type Receiving Antenna, Radio or Television Transmission Antenna, or Antenna. You can view these definitions at the following link: Chapter 3: Definitions. You can also view Appendix A of the Zoning Ordinance which is a schedule of all uses and in what zones they are permitted. At the end of the schedule, antenna are addressed. How do you plan to screen the antenna or blend the antenna into the building? This will help us decide what other requirements there might be. Once we find out more about the type and look of the antenna, we can guide you on the correct process for approval. I'm hoping you may be of assistance, if not, would you please forward this e-mail on to the correct person? Thank you. We are needing to add a four foot antenna off the top of one of our buildings for communication purposes. We are an apartment complex here in Carmel. I only saw in the code where it was categorized as equipment. Are there any guidelines that we need to follow with installing it? Is it necessary to obtain a permit for this as well? Thank you!
