The droinageways Impacted by the retail development shell be replaced by a pair
of new waterways. The droinageway which enters the retail site from the
northwest corner shall be replaced by o new channel approximately 1,935 feet
tong to be constructed along the west side of the parcel. The newly constructed
channel shall have on overall bottom width of 10 feet, being sloped to provide a
low flow channel 4 feet wide. The second drainagewoy which enters the site
from the northeast corner shell be reploced by a new channel approximately
1,230 feet long. This second new channel shall be constructed along the east
side of the proposed romps. The newly constructed chonnel shall hove o bottom
width of 5 feet. It Is anticipated these drainogeways will carry water only
following a local rain event as the upstream detention basins discharge into
them. Substantially all of the adjoining site drainage from the proposed retail
development will be discharged by other conveyances.
The impact to the existing detention basin shall be mitigated by excavating at
least on equal volume of water storage and surface area extending generally
north from the bank of the remaining portion of the detention area east of the
proposed ramps. The newly expanded detention basin shall be constructed with
a shallow safety shelf around its perimeter before the slopes steepen to the
depth of the basin.
The newly constructed channels shall include a series of meandering curves to
more nearly replicate o natural droinageway. The outer bonk in areas of the
curves shall be protected by fiber erosion control mots os appropriate. Portions
of the channel beds shall be covered with pit run gravel of various sizes to
provide bottom structure.
The new drainagewoys shall flow through a vegetated band consisting of trees of
graduated size classifications including larger t(4' diameter) landscape quality
balled and burlopped trees, smaller size (1 17 2 diameter) nursery run belled
and burlapped trees, 3-5' toll container grown seedlings, bore root seedlings,
shrubs, and herbaceous plants. All trees and shrubs shall be deciduous plant
species.
The larger landscape trees shall be planted on enerally 100' spacing. The
smaller balled trees shall be planted on generally 50' spacing. Container crown
seedlings shall be planted on 20' spacing. Bare root tree and shrub seedlings
shall be planted on 10 spacing. All trees shall be selected from the following list
of approved species. Trees and shrubs shall be planted in a random manner
with regard to species composition.
The following seed mixture shall be planted within the limits of the newly
constructed channel:

At least seven species of trees, including three species of oaks, shall be planted.
At least six species of shrubs, including at least two species of dogwood, shall be
planted.
The seedlings shall be bore root nursery stock with a minimum height of
18 inches or container grown seedlings with a minimum height of 3 feet. The
bare coot seedlings shall hove a minimum root collar caliper equal to or greeter
than /4 with a well developed fibrous root system in balance with the top. The
container grown seedlings shall be provided in 3 gallon containers with o
minimum root collar caliper equal to or greater than 3/8 with a well developed
fibrous root system generally uniformly distributed throughout the container. The
seedlings shall be obtained from licensed nursery sources in accordance with
Section 914.08 of the MOOT Standard Specifications. A list of suppliers shall be
furnished to the Owner for approval prior to ordering plant material. All seedlings
shall be in accordance with Sections 914.08(d) and (e) of the INDOT Standard
Specifications.
The buffer planting area shell be planted either by hand or mechanically with
bare root hardwood seedlings. Seedlings shall be planted in accordance with
i
sound horticultural practices, including assuring appropriate root pruning, proper
planting depth, and soil compaction following panting. Seedlings shall be
plotted so the toot cotter is vote with the ground surface- The roots shat( be
extended downward into the hole or planting slit. Roots shall not be forced into
an improper planting hole which would restrict their ability to grow and support
the seedling to permit survival. The container grown seedlings shall be planted
by a method to be approved by the owner. The planting areas shall be as shown
on the accompanying plan or as directed by the Owner. The Contractor shall
provide a written statement in the bid packet for the Owner's approval describing
the method to be used in the execution of this work.
All seedling planting rows shall be generally straight, true, and parallel to facilitate future
maintenance. The seedlings (both bore root and container grown) at each end of
every row and every 100' within each row shall be marked by placing a wire flag
immediately ad'jocent to the stem of that seedling. The fluorescent orange flog
shall measure 4 x5' and shall be firmly affixed to a wire 3r long.
All bore root seedlings shall be in accordance with Section 914.08(h e
INDOT Standard Specifications. Seedlings shall be planted in a r• •on1 manner
with regard to species composition to simulate natural stoc g conditions.
Approximately equal numbers of each species shall be eel. A fist of the
species planted, including the approximate number: each species shall
provided to the owner.
The rnitigotion planting area shall be •tied with the folio e el seed mix. The
seed mixture shag+ be applied at rate of 46.25 !b job shall be pr,. -eel
