D-2026-10 City Court Operation Fund 506SPONSOR(s): Councilor(s) Griffiths and Seidensticker ORDINANCE D- 2026 -10 AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL, INDIANA ESTABLISHING A CITY COURT OPERATIONS FUND #506) WHEREAS, the Indiana General Assembly enacted Indiana Code 33- 37- 7 -8(i) requiring city and town courts to collect judicial salaries fee, as described in Indiana Code 33- 37 -5 -26, in all civil, criminal, infraction and ordinance violation cases, and WHEREAS, this same law requires that twenty -five percent of the judicial salaries fee collected under Indiana Code 33- 37 -5 -26 shall be retained by the city or town fiscal officer. WHEREAS, this same law requires that these funds shall be prioritized to fund city and or town court operations. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Carmel, Indiana, as follows: Section 1: The Council hereby creates and establishes a City Court Operations Fund #506, into which shall be deposited the judicial salaries fee assessed and collected by the Carmel City Court. Section II: All prior Ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with any provision of this Ordinance are hereby repealed. Section III: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and signing by the Mayor.
