Remove existing 72” x 36” high louver on south side of Mechanical Penthouse. Replace with 72” x 72” louver. Refer to specification. Head condition remains the same. Remove metal studs, sheathing and E.I.F.S. below existing opening to create required size. Install new louver. Provide sealant around perimeter of opening. CHANGES TO THE PROJECT MANUAL 1. SECTION 08 91 00 – LOUVERS: a. Add this section to the specifications. CHANGES TO THE DRAWINGS 1. DRAWING A101: a. Provide plastic laminate wall cabinets on west wall of Storage 101 above countertop from north wall to south wall. Provide four equal width cabinets, 24” deep 1’-8” above counter to bottom of cabinet. Height of cabinet shall be approximately 2’-6”. Provide plastic laminate bulkhead above cabinets to ceiling. Exact size will be confirmed when height of counter is determined. 2. DRAWING IF110: a. Finish Specifications, Solid Surface SS1 manufacturer shall be Corian. 3. DRAWING HP1: a. Refer to Revision Drawing R001 for alternate bid scope. 4. DRAWING H210: a. Refer to Revision Drawing R002 for alternate bid scope. 5. DRAWING E100: a. Electrical Demolition Plan: Add new Demolition Plan Note No. 17, which reads as follows: “17. PROVIDE ELECTRICAL DISCONNECTION OF POWER AS REQUIRED TO “MAKE SAFE” EXISTING LIGHT BOOMS AND CEILING MOUNTED ELECTRICAL DROPS SHOWN TO BE ST. VINCENT CARMEL HOSPITAL ADDENDUM NUMBER ONE Carmel, Indiana Spine OR Room Renovations / Build Out BSA LifeStructures #04610072 Page 2 REMOVED IN EXISTING OR 5 ON DRAWING A100 FIRST FLOOR DEMOLITION PLAN.” b. Plan Note reference shall be located in center of room that is north of Column Line “A” and east of Column Line “41.5” on the Electrical Demolition Plan. 6. DRAWING P110: a. Remove existing WAGD, NO, MA, MV, O, N medical gases from OR #5 along with associated piping, outlets and control cabinets back to corridor wall and cap. Section includes: 1. Dual drainable blade louvers 2. Sills, trim, concealed mullion framing, and other accessories required for a complete installation. B. Related Sections: 1. Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA): 1. Publication 511 – Certified Ratings Program for Air Control Devices 1.3 SUBMITTALS A. Product data: Manufacturers printed literature indicating compliance with specifications. B. Shop drawings: 1. Show sizes, profiles, mounting details, and blank off details. 2. Indicate performance and free area. C. Samples: 1. For verification: Provide a minimum of 3 samples of color that matches existing louver. 2. Samples shall be specified finish on minimum of 2 inches by 3 inches aluminum. D. Certification: 1. Submit certificates signed by manufacturer certifying that the products furnished comply with requirements and are licensed to bear the AMCA seal based on tests made according to AMCA 500 and complying with AMCA's Certified Ratings Program. 2. Furnish copies with Operating and Maintenance Manuals. ST. Wind loading: 1. Minimum wind load strength: 90 psf B. Performance certification: 1. Comply with AMCA publication 511 and AMCA certified ratings program listing. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 MANUFACTURERS A. Acceptable manufacturers: Provide products from one of the following: 1. Airline Products 2. The Airolite Company 3. American Warming and Ventilating 4. Arrow United Industries 5. Construction Specialties, Inc. (The C/S Group) 6. Industrial Louvers, Inc. 7. Greenheck Architectural Products 8. Ruskin Company 2.2 MATERIALS A. Aluminum Extrusions: ASTM B 221 (ASTM B 221M), alloy 6063-T5 or T-52. B. Fasteners: Of same basic metal and alloy as fastened metal or 300 series stainless steel, unless otherwise indicated. Do not use metals that are incompatible with joined materials. 1. Use types and sizes to suit unit installation conditions. 2. Use Phillips flat-head screws for exposed fasteners, unless otherwise indicated. C. Anchors and Inserts: Of type, size, and material required for loading and installation indicated. 1. Use nonferrous metal or hot-dip galvanized anchors and inserts for exterior installations and elsewhere as needed for corrosion resistance. 2. Use toothed steel or expansion bolt devices for drilled-in-place anchors. D. Bituminous Paint: Cold-applied asphalt mastic complying with SSPC-Paint 12 but containing no asbestos fibers, or cold-applied asphalt emulsion complying with ASTM D 1187. 1. VOC Limits for anti-corrosive and anti-rust paints applied to interior ferrous substrates: Use materials that do not exceed the VOC content limit of 250 g/L established in Green Seal Standard GC-03, less water. Fabricate frames, including integral sills, to fit in openings of sizes indicated, with allowances made for fabrication and installation tolerances, adjoining materials' tolerances, and perimeter sealant joints. 1. Frame Type: Channel type, unless otherwise indicated. B. Join frame members to one another and to fixed louver blades with fillet welds, threaded fasteners, or both, as standard with louver manufacturer, concealed from view; unless otherwise indicated or size of louver assembly makes bolted connections between frame members necessary. C. Assemble louvers in factory to minimize field splicing and assembly. 1. Disassemble units only as necessary for shipping and handling limitations. 2. Clearly mark units for reassembly and coordinated installation. D. Provide vertical mullions of type and at spacings indicated, but not more than recommended by manufacturer, or 72 inches (1830 mm) o.c., whichever is less. 1. At horizontal joints between louver units, provide horizontal mullions, unless continuous vertical assemblies are indicated. E. Continuous Vertical Assemblies: Where height of louver units exceeds fabrication and handling limitations, fabricate units to permit field-bolted assembly with close-fitting joints in jambs and mullions, reinforced with splice plates and without interrupting blade-spacing pattern. F. Maintain equal louver blade spacing, including separation between blades and frames at head and sill, to produce uniform appearance. G. Provide sill extensions and loose sills made of same material as louvers where indicated or required for drainage to exterior and to prevent water penetrating to interior. H. Include supports, anchorages, and accessories required for complete assembly. 2.4 FIXED BLADE LOUVERS A. Type– Dual drainable continuous blade extruded aluminum louvers with concealed blade braces: 1. Reference standard: Airolite Company; Model CB6884 a. Material: Extruded aluminum b. Blade and frame thickness: 0.081 inch c. Depth: 4 inches d. Blade spacing: 4 inches e. Free area (4 foot by 4 foot Unit): 8.22 square feet f. Percent free area (4 foot by 4 foot unit): 51.3 percent g. Static pressure drop: 0.16 inches water ST. Concealed blade supports shall allow horizontal sight lines. Provide special construction as required. B. Screens: 1. Bird screens: 1/2 inch by 0.063 inch mesh aluminum 2. Frame: Same kind and form of metal as indicated for louver to which screens are attached. a. Type: Non-rewirable, U-shaped frames for permanently securing screen mesh. b. Reinforce extruded-aluminum screen frames at corners with clips. c. Mounting: Interior, removable extruded aluminum frame d. Finish: Same finish as louver frames to which louver screens are attached. C. Sill flashing and trim: 1. Material: Extruded or formed aluminum 2. Thickness: 0.063 inch minimum 3. Profile: a. 1 inch minimum interior flange b. 1/2 inch drip edge for sills, 1 inch face flange for trim. 4. Finish and color to match louver. 2.5 FINISH A. High-Performance Organic Finish: 1. Comply with AAMA 2605 2. Kynar 500 or Hylar 5000 fluoropolymer resin, 70% by volume. 3. Coats: 2 coats, 1.0 mil minimum total thickness, 0.6 to 0.8 mil top coat thickness. 4. Warranty: 20 years 5. Color: Match existing louver color. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 INSTALLATION A. Examination: 1. Assure that leak proof connections can be made in openings as prepared by other trades. 2. Coordinate changes in openings or framing to allow installation. B. Installation: 1. Install in accordance with submittals and manufacturer’s written instructions. a. Locate and place louver units level, plumb, and at indicated alignment with adjacent work. b. Form closely fitted joints with exposed connections accurately located and secured. c. Install using clips, anchors, shims and fasteners selected to prevent galvanic action. ST. VINCENT CARMEL HOSPITAL Carmel, Indiana Spine OR Room Renovations / Build Out BSA LifeStructures #04610072 ____________________________________________________________________________________ LOUVERS 08 91 00 - 5 1) Use concealed anchorages where possible. 2) Provide neoprene or lead washers fitted to screws where required to protect metal surfaces and to make a weathertight connection. d. Coat aluminum surfaces that abut concrete, masonry or dissimilar metals with a heavy coat of bituminous paint, prior to installation. 2. Install to assure an air and water-tight assembly. a. Install sill flashing in bed of sealant prior to installing louver. b. Seal perimeter of louver frame with backer rod and sealant. c. Install concealed gaskets, flashings, joint fillers as louver installation progresses. d. Apply sealant to connections and joints between sections to assure air and water- tight connections. e. Apply sealant to perimeter of frame, leaving 1/2 inch gaps at 2 feet on center between louver frame and sill flashing, where provided. 3. Provide blank off panels to fill all louver area not indicated to be fully open or where indicated to receive ducted connection. C. Adjustment: 1. Test operation of dampers and adjustable louvers and adjust as needed to provide fully functional units. D. Cleaning: 1. Periodically clean exposed louver faces to remove accumulated finger-prints and soil. 2. Clean louvers with water and detergent prior to final inspection. Thoroughly rinse with clean water. 3. Touch-up chipped finishes and field paint all fasteners with an air-dry finish matching the factory-applied finish. END OF SECTION
