Dear Neighbor,
The property at the southwest corner of 116 St and Springmill Rd was recently acquired
purpose to design and construct a beautiful Temple and Meetinghouse for use by members of The Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints. As neighbors, we want to take this opportunity to share the proposed
concept development plan with you.
The property is zoned S -2 Residential. Church, Temple and Place of Worship are permitted as Special
Use within this zone. We have submitted a Special Use application to Carmel City according to their
prescribed process for review in April.
The North portion of the property will have a Temple and Meetinghouse with beautiful landscaping and
ample shared parking. The design and materials used and maintenance for the buildings and site
improvements will be of high quality. Existing trees along the west property line will serve as a transition
and backdrop to the Temple and Meetinghouse fronting Springmill Rd. See enclosed renderings.
The Temple is designed for small groups of people on a specific schedule Tuesday through Saturday. The
Meetinghouse will primarily be used for Sunday worship services and youth activities on Wednesday
evening. Experience with many of these sites has shown that:
o Community environment will be enhanced by quality of the Temple, Meetinghouse and site
improvements
o Values of surrounding property is maintained and even enhanced
o Traffic impact is negligible due to schedule use at off peak times of day /week
The remaining South portion of the property is planned to have open space and quality single family
residential homes developed over time.
We hope this information serves to provide you understanding of the planned development and an
introduction as neighbors for the future. There will be a website with additional details and information
about the Temple as plans progress,
