The purpose of increasing the height of the wall is for noise abatement. Currently the increased traffic on 146th has added to the noise level in our community. Also, per my discussion with Joel Thurman (Project Manager for the 146th widening to occur in the next 2 years) I have learned that the current plan is to raise the current road level in front of Ballantrae. This will decrease the functional level of our wall significantly. By raising the wall now, we are trying to stay ahead of the soon to increase noise level. As you can see from the photo of the entrance to Ballantrae attached to the ADLS Amendment Application, the wall is quite a bit shorter than the height of the four pillars framing the entrance. Our plan is to remove the limestone caps from the wall, add an additional 29 inches of identical brick and then replace the limestone caps. Upon completion, the height of the wall will be no taller than the height of the existing four entrance pillars. Thank you for your consideration of this request. Please let me know if you need more information. James C Lancaster Jr President, Ballantrae HOA 14563 Ballantrae Circle Carmel, IN 46032 Phone: 317 573 -9935 Email: jlancaster indy.rr.com 1
