Subject: Suzuki on Rangeline Road
Adrienne: Sorry to double barrel you on these, but I had another complaint that I've been wanting to get addressed for
YEARS that came to mind for me to ask you (and Mike's) assistance on. This is MY complaint, not from the outside.
The Suzuki business on Rangeline Road has for years now placed their little bikes/motorcycles/mopeds, whatever
they are out in the RW and occasionally on the sidewalk. Mostly, they keep them just on the grass area between the
sidewalk and the curb, but they are definitely in the RW. They are literally inches from the curb, and a vehicle could
easily hit one if it went by and had any overhang whatsoever. This has always been a hazard in my opinion that we
should eliminate.
I believe many sections of the City Code could be used to address this and cause them to quit this regular activity.
Section 6-48 (Obstructing Streets Prohibited) is one section, but more to the point, Section 6-59 (Display of
Goods for Sale on Public Property Prohibited) which states "No person shall use any street, sidewalk or other
public place for the display or sale of goods or merchandise, or write or affix any signs, or advertisements
on any pavement. All persons must comply with the provisions of Section 4-26 regarding Licensing."
Now, unless they have actually obtained such a license, I don't think this practice should be allowed to continue. I
guess I'm getting a little bent out of shape, but this has bothered me for a long time and when I did mention it to the
Mayor a while back, he said "have Mike look into it". Therefore, Mike, you have been copied on this. Maybe I'm
overstepping my boundaries on it, but I certainly would appreciate your comments and help.
Now that we have a right-of-way inspector/manager, I'd like to think that it's OK for us to take some stands on what
we will and will not allow to go on in our rights -of -way.
