Dear Friend:
If you are an animal lover, there is no doubt you've received a phone call or forwarded email
from a friend asking you to help find a new home for someone's dog or cat. We've all seen
those emails and ads regarding an animal that is on "death row." So we wanted to make this
message one of hope. One that shows you what the Humane Society for Hamilton County
(HSHC) has accomplished in caring for the unwanted and abused animals in our county. Celeste arrived at the shelter with
a severely ingrown toenail and

into "forever foster" homes where our oldest animals can live out their lives.
Q• Our 90% placement rate is extraordinary considering the national average is 35% x
and our organization does not euthanize animals based on space or time at j
restrictions.
19 dogs came in with heartworm disease requiring treatment costing between
$300 -$500 per dog. Thanks to fundraisers and individual contributions, ALL of
those dogs were able to receive treatment and are now in happy homes!
We treated dozens of injured dogs and cats who needed emergency treatment due
to being hit by a car, gunshot wounds, or other severe injuries. Through the use of our staff and volunteers saved
foster homes and money donated to our Survivor Program, we were able to treat, the lives of dozens of orphaned

and intensive care.
i► In 2010, HSHC volunteers put in more than 17,085 hours caring for shelter animals,
promoting animals at adoptions events and fundraising for us.

animals were magically adopted into loving homes on day eight, but they are not. Some may
even wait several months for a forever home.
The unprecedented state of today's economy continues to drive more and more animals
through our doors. By year end, we are expecting nearly 3,500 unwanted, abused animals and;, <4
lost animals. But whether they come to us with serious injuries or illnesses, disabled, a victim of

abuse or neglect, or simply a senior pet or breed that most people pass by, we will give them
the medical care they need to heal their bodies, the love they need to heal their spirits, and the
time they need as they wait for a forever home.
We hope you will support us by becoming a member of the Humane Society for Hamilton
County with a generous donation of $25, $50, $100 or even more. Your tax deductible gift will
have an immediate and direct impact on our mission to save lives, educate communities, and
complete families. Your gift makes second chances possible.
