Farrand Jr., Director, Facilities and Transportation for Carmel Clay Schools, representing the Carmel Clay School Corporation, has requested that the Board provide a favorable recommendation to the Carmel City Council for the vacation of portions of the dedicated right of way of Audubon Drive, Sylvan Lane and 2 Street NE and approve the vacation of Lots 3, 4, 8, 17 and 18 in the Carmelwood Subdivision, all adjacent to the Carmel High School Freshman Center site. The Carmel High School Freshman Center opened for occupancy in August of this year for the 2005 -2006 school year. It is essential that these required vacations be accomplished as soon as possible. The Right of Way Vacation Ordinance is in the process of being drafted by the Law Department and will be submitted to Cannel City Council for approval as soon possible. The Board approved the Right -of -Way Dedication and the Emergency Access Easement Dedication for the Freshman Center on July 20, 2005. The Engineering Department recommends: The Board provide a favorable recommendation to the Carmel City Council for the vacation of portions of the existing rights -of -way of Audubon Drive, Sylvan Lane and r Street NE. These vacations are essential to the development and construction of the Carmel High School Freshman Center. The construction and development of the Freshman Center will require vacation of existing rights -of -way and dedication of new right -of -way and vacation of platted portions of the existing Carmelwood subdivision, both of which are adjacent to the Carmel High School Freshman Center. Dedication of the new right -of -way and of the Emergency Access easement is under consideration of the Board under separate letters as part of the July,, 2005 meeting agenda. The Carmel Clay Schools requests the Board vote to provide a favorable recommendation to the Carmel City Council for the vacation of a portion of the existing rights -of -way of Audubon Drive, Sylvan Lane and 2 Street NE and Lots 3, 4, 8, 17 and 18 in the Carmelwood subdivision.
