DEPARTMENT REPORT
AUGUST 2, 2011
2. Docket No. 11070013 ADLS Amend: Indiana Spine Group Signage
The applicant seeks approval to place two new wall signs on the south building elevation and to place one new
directory ground sign. The site is located at 13225 N. Meridian St. and is zoned B -6 /Business. It is located within
the US 31 Overlay Zone. Filed by Doug Staley, Jr. of Staley Signs, Inc. on behalf of the owner.
The Petitioner is requesting approval for three new signs: two wall and one ground directory sign. The two wall signs
would go on the south elevation and do require variances. These variances will be heard at the August 22 meeting. These
are existing signs at their current location. The Petitioner wishes to reuse them at this new location. The logo is a blue,
black and white cabinet sign and will be positioned separately from the text on the west end of the building. It is 43.17 sq.
ft. The second sign is the white letters saying "Indiana Spine" and will be situated in the middle to east end of the
building. It is 79.86 sq. ft. The building stair steps back, and that is the reason for the separation of the two elements, as
well as not using the "group" part of the existing sign. It simply does not fit on the building facade.
The directory ground sign will be placed close to the vehicular entrance to the building. It will have a white background
and silver edges /accents to match the building. Three tenant names will be displayed on the sign: Indiana Spine Group,
Medical Academic Center and North Meridian Surgery Center. This sign is 17.5 sq. ft. and is within the allowable 20 sq.
ft. No variance is required for this sign, it is allowed by the Sign Ordinance.
Please view the petitioner's informational packet for further detail.
