HomeMy WebLinkAboutD-2052-11 Amend Sec.2-51/Paid Time Off (PTO)ORDINANCE D- 2052 -11 Sponsor: Councilor Seidensticker AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL, INDIANA AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 3, DIVISION II, SECTION 2 -51 OF THE CARMEL CITY CODE WHEREAS, the City of Carmel offers its employees a generous paid time off program, which includes a PTO bank and a sick bank; and WHEREAS, employees are expected to manage their time off judiciously, so as not to create excessive balances nor to run out of time; and WHEREAS, buying back unused sick leave creates an incentive for employees to save their PTO time rather than use it. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Carmel, Indiana, as follows: Section 1. The foregoing Recitals are incorporated herein by this reference. Section 2. Chapter 2, Article 3, Division II, 2 -51 (b) (4) is amended to read as follows: 2 -51 Paid Time Off (PTO). Cc) 5e., -s terror K (4) Maximum accumulation. No employee can carry over more than 300 hours in his sick leave bank from one benefit year to the next. Any time in excess of 300 hours will be forfeited Section 3. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect on January 1, 20]2. Section 4. All prior City ordinances or parts thereof that are inconsistent with any provision of this Ordinance are hereby repealed as of the effective date of this Ordinance. Section 5. If any portion of this Ordinance is declared unconstitutional, invalid or unenforceable by the valid judgment or decree of any court of competent jurisdiction such unconstitutionally, invalidity or unenforceability shall not affect any of the remaining portions of same.
