These demolition notes shall serve to aid the contractor in the evaluation of the extent of demolition; but shall not be held to be all inclusive. 2. Contractors shall be responsible for all demolition required for the installation of new construction, whether or not it is specifically shown or noted in these documents. 3. Remove all damaged gypsum board, or concrete from existing surfaces an repair to match adjacent construction. 4. Selective electrical, mechanical, and fireprotection demolition will result in various wall/floor/ceiling openings. Contractor to repair these areas as necessary in accordance with specifications. 5. "Construction Limits" generally illustrate areas of demolition. Other work may be required for demolition or replacement of the other systems including MEP above ceiling items. 6. All demolition material becomes the property of the contractor and is to be removed from hospital property, in a legal manner. The owner reserves the right to claim items whether or not those items were specifically noted "to be relocated" or "to be returned to owner." 7. The contractor is responsible for salvaging all items in good condition for owners re-use: lights, ceiling tiles, doors, windows, plumbing fixtures, toilet accessories, etc. 8. Refer to IU Health "Mandatory Contractor's Orientation Requirements" (MCOR) for additional requirements. 9. Contractor to provide ten-day notice with owner-supplied forms for all system shut-downs to facilities. Minimal exceptions will be amde in cases of emergency or schedule conflicts on an owner determined basis. 10. Contractors shall be responsible for providing, installing and maintaining dust tight temporary construction barriers to all areas within the construction limit lines, during the construction process. locations shall be coordinated with the owner and architect. 11. Items shown in lighter pen weights are existing to remain. 12. Protect from demolition and reconstruction debris, all "Existing to Remain" fixtures and equipment required to remain in plce during construction. 13. The contractor responsible for general demolition work shall coordinate any and all asbestos removal with the owner. All asbestos removal will be preformed by a licensed asbestos removal contractor. this typically includes floor tile, tile mastic and pipe insulation. 1. Portions of the building shall be occupied during construction. Contractors shall comply with the following life safety issues. Failure to list all life safety issues does not relieve the contractors from complying with federal, state and local codes, the contractural agreement between the contractor and the owner,and the other governing bodies which have jursidiction on this project. The following are interim life safety code issues which are specific to this project and must be addressed. A. Insure all exits provide free and unobstructed egress. B. Smoking shall be prohibited in all areas of the building. Campus is smoke free environment. C. Develop and enforce storage, housekeeping and debris removal procedures that reduce the flammable and combustible fire load to the lowest level necessary for daily operations. D. Secure all tools and construction materials during breaks and non-construction hours. E. IOSHA requires material safety data sheets (MSDS) for all materials being used or stored on this project be made available to all workers on this jobsite. 2. The contractors shall be responsible for informing the owner in writing on a bi-weekly basis, the construction schedule for the approaching two weeks construction period. Any storage materials access or egress problems, traffic flow or normal owner operations which are to be affected must be protected and/or agreed upon by owner. All costs shall be incurred by the general contractor. 3. Any services which must be temporarily shut off must be coordinated with the owner. 4. All construction areas, removal traffic pattern areas and associated work areas shall be kept clean of debris by the contractors daily. 5. Fire rated wall and ceiling penetrations must comply with E-814. 6. The general contractor shall provide all necessary fire treated wood blocking for all trades. Continuous blocking required for all wall hung shelving, casework, grab bars and handrails. Brace walls with wall hung items to deck as by printed stud mfg. recommendations. 7. Dimensions are to face of stud or masonry, unless otherwise noted. 8. Existing surfaces shall be prepared to accept new finishes, per finish material manufacturer recommendations. This preperation of substrate shall be the responsibility of the particular finish contractor. If no preperation work is done to surfaces, the contractor accepts the conditions as they are, and is responsible for the performance of the material. 9. ALL CEILING AND BULKHEAD HEIGHTS INDICATED ARE TO FINISHED FACE OF GYPSUM BOARD OR TO THE BOTTOM FACE OF ACOUSTICAL CEILING TILE PAD, UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE. CEILING CONTRACTOR TO PROVIDE ALL CEILING GRID TO SUPPORT HVAC SUPPLY DIFFUSERS AND RETURN GRILLS.
