HomeMy WebLinkAboutDept Report CARMEL PLAN COMMISSION SUBDIVISION COMMITTEE DEPARTMENT REPORT SEPTEMBER 6, 2011 1. Docket No. 11080005 ADLS Amend: Fifth Third Bank Signage The applicant seeks approval to update signage on and around the building to match the new branding. The site is located at 14585 Hazel Dell Pkwy. and is zoned PUD/Planned Unit Development. It is not located within any Overlay Zone. Filed by Andrew Rayner of Sign Craft Industries on behalf of the owner. The Applicant seeks approval to update signage on the building to reflect their new branding. Two wall signs and directional /incidental signs will be replaced. The wall signs are located on the north and west elevations. The north elevation sign will be 31.5 sq. ft. and have the words "Fifth Third Bank" in white individual letters and the logo with green "eyebrow" above it. The logo is blue, white and green. 75 sq. ft. is allowed by the Sign Ordinance. The west elevation wall sign will just be the logo and green "eyebrow. It is 22.09 sq. ft. 90 sq. ft. is allowed by the Sign Ordinance. Panels in existing ground signs near the entrances will be changed out. The size is less than 3 sq. ft. and does not require a permit. The wall mounted address numbers will be changed out with new numbers. They will be white, basically the same as is installed currently. Handicap parking signs, window signs, hours, etc. will all be changed out as well to reflect the new branding. The drawing shows the handicap parking signs at 8' tall. Is this height necessary? The Department asks that this be reduced. "Do Not Enter" ground signs are shown being replaced and installed at 4' tall. This should be reduced to 3' tall so that variances are not needed for height. Also, four "Do Not Enter" signs are proposed for the reverse side of the drive through window bays. The Department believes this is redundant and creates sign clutter. Please reduce the number of these signs. Clearance signs are shown over each entry to the drive through bays. The Department this is too many. Please reduce down to two signs centrally located. The size of the clearance and ATM signs are 1 sq. ft., which is less than the 3 sq. ft. allowed. So, the size is okay. Lastly, ATM design information is needed. Any signage on the ATM should be less than 3 sq. ft. per side. The petitioner should provide these details for review. Please view the petitioner's informational packet for further detail. Recommendation: After all comments /concerns are addressed, the Dept of Community Services (DOCS) recommends positive consideration of Docket No. 11080005 ADLS Amend. 1
