Item 1 Provide Three Plug Valves
City of Carmel, Indiana
Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion
Headworks and 106 Street Pump Station
Contract 70
451 5996.002
Change Order No. 2
The Contract Drawings indicated the Owner would supply three plug valves. The
Owner requested the Contractor to supply. A one day time extension was included for
this work.
During the course of the project, it was determined that there was not a need to
electrify the overhead hoist and trolley, primarily due to its low expected use. The unit
was replaced with a hand geared unit.
Item 4 Revisions to Exhaust Fan No. 5
Exhaust Fan No. 5 required a size increase from 9,000 cfm at 2- inches water column to
9,600 cfm at 5- inches water column. This increase created a motor increase from 7.5
Hp to 15 Hp, a starter change, fan size change, and roof curb modifications. The
modification was chiefly for an increased pressure drop for the grease eliminators to
account for additional pressure drop when they become dirty.

3,028.00
Item 2 Deduction for Crane Revisions 3,432.00
Item 3 Deduction for the Wall Painting 5,100.00
The Owner determined that they did not want the lower level interior concrete walls to
be finish painted.
8,056.00
Item 5 PLC Panel Changes No Cost
The Owner requested some minor panel revisions to match their existing panel designs.
Item 6 Modify the Grit Pumps 10,594.70
During the submittal phase, the supplier offered a change to include variable frequency
drives for the three grit pumps. The drives will provide added flexibility and may
improve the grit dewatering. The Owner approved the change to revise the pumps,
include different pump seals, and add the variable frequency drives for each pump into
the MCC.
Item 7 Deduct for the New Supernatent Pump Control Panel 5,000.00
It was determined that the existing pump controls and starter would be acceptable to
operate the new pump.
Item 8 Deduct the Epoxy Floor Coating
The Owner elected not to have the building floors epoxy coated.
Item 9 Light Pole Bases
The excavation of the light pole bases required additional removal of the concrete
rubble. A one day time extension was granted for this change.

New Plug Valves and Fittings
451-5996.001
We are in receipt of your September 21, 2010 letter detailing the additional costs for plug valves and
fittings.
Please make the following revisions:
Delete one of the 6 -inch plug valves with chain wheels. As you may recall, we deleted the valve
leading up to the cyclone on the south side.
Why are there handling costs? Even if the City supplied, handling would still be required. Delete
these costs.
Please delete the added flanged tee, blind flanged galvanized nipple, and ball valve. We added
these with the idea there would not be additional costs.
Delete the labor, since the added tee and accessories are deleted.
Delete the costs for Project Superintendent, Manager, and Engineer since the valves required
installation under the Contract.

Per your email on July 7, 2010 we are submitting separate pricing for deleting portions of the

These are separate prices for each separate portion of work. If the Owner wishes to delete both

Exhaust Fan No. 5 (EF -5) requires modification.
The specifications required a design point of 9,000 cfm at 2 -inch water column, which must be modified
to 9,600 cfm at 5-inch water column.
The submitted supplier of exhaust fan EF -5 was Hartzell and they recommend a Model A40 -9 -27 with a
15 Hp motor. This increases the motor size from 7.5 Hp to 15 Hp, which will require a Size 2 starter at
the MCC in lieu of the Size 1 shown on the Drawings, a 4 KVAR capacitor in lieu of a 3, and a 50 amp
breaker in lieu of a 30 amp in MCC -HW, and an increase in feed wire size from 3 #12, 1 #12 Grd to 3 #10,
and 1#10 Grd.
Please note the revised fan will require a longer roof curb and back draft damper. A larger reducer will
also be required on the discharge side of the fan. The fan manufacturer needs to allow for any pressure
losses for these accessories in addition to the 5.0 water column of external losses.
