Indiana 46032 RE: ZONING ORDINANCE VIOLATION Dear Sir or Madam: This letter is being provided to inform you that our department has recently received some concerns regarding 806 Alwyne Rd. in the City of Carmel, a property listed under your ownership. The concern cited that a possible kennel being operated at this property, which is zoned residentially (R1). As per Appendix A, Schedule of Uses, of the Carmel/ Clay Zoning Ordinance, a commercial kennel is not a permitted use in this zoning district. Chapter 3 of the Zoning Ordinance defines a commercial kennel as "any Lot on which four (4) or more dogs, or small animals, at least four months of age are kept." This department performed an initial site inspection of the subject property and documented evidence that there was by definition a commercial kennel being operated on the property. Therefore, you must either apply for a variance granting permission to maintain the current number of animals, or maintain three (3) animals or less on the property by June 19, 2008.
