GHDT is professional modern dance company based in Carmel, Indiana. The company rehearses daily from 9:00 AM until 3:00 PM at the Performer's Edge, located at 12955 Old Meridian Street in Carmel. G2, the "pre professional" student company of GHDT rehearses 3 days a week at the same Carmel location. In addition to the daily rehearsals of the professional company and the weekly rehearsals of G2, the company has numerous activities in Carmel. Annually during the month of February, the professional company presents a series of nine concerts during three weekends in Carmel at The Performer's Edge. The company's daily rehearsal space is transformed into a "black box" theatre where patrons have an "up -close and personal" view of dance in a cabaret style setting. This is an extremely popular program of GHDT and is always a sell -out. This year the company will present DOWN ON THE BAYOU featuring music of Louisiana from February 13 through March 1. G2, the student company, presented their debut concert last May at the Performing Arts Center of Carmel, located at 575 West Carmel Drive. This May G2 will present their annual concert again at this Carmel location. Two of the company's most financially successful programs, THE NUTCRACKER and the SUMMER DANCE ACADEMY also take place in Carmel. For a period of three months over 100 young dancers rehearse for the annual production of THE NUTCRACKER at the company's daily rehearsal space in Carmel. The production itself is presented at the Pike Performing Arts Center. During the summer, the company offers an intensive Summer Dance Academy. This workshop features a professional faculty comprised of professionals from GHDT as well as international guest teachers. Several students from the Riga Choreographic School in Riga, Latvia also attend the workshop. The company has developed an exchange relationship with this prestigious European dance school. Annually, the workshop serves over 100 young dancers. A large percentage of participants in the programming of GHDT (including audience members) are Carmel residents. GHDT would like to respectfully request $50,000 to assist with operating costs of all of GHDT's programming.
