Re:
July 26, 2004 BZA meeting- Ed Martin Signage, Docket Nos. 04060012-13 V
BZA Members:
Please read the following. Docket No. 04060019 has been withdrawn from the agenda.
1 d. Mayflower Park, Blk 6, Lot 2 - Ed Martin
The applicant seeks the following development standards variances'
Docket No. 04060012 V Chapter 25.7.02-8(c) east wall sign area
Docket No. 04060013 V Chapter 25.7.02-8 (b) number of signs
~,u~,,~t ~,u. u~,uUUUl~ V ,~,ap~c~ ~.7.u~-o to~ s ii ,u~ ~a~,,,g ~,u,,~agc WITHDRAWN
The site is located southwest of 99th St and Michigan Rd. The site is zoned I-l/Industrial within the US
421 Overlay Zone. Filed by John Bennett of A/E Technologies for Ed Martin Pontiac GMC
The Department was under the impression that the 'Service' sign was located on the south fagade
of the Ed Martin Building, which does not have road frontage. Actually, the 'Service' sign is
located on the north fa¢ade of the Ed Martin Building, which has frontage on 99th Street and the
sign is now not required to be less than 3 square feet in area. Therefore, the Department has
withdrawn Docket No. 04060019 V, regarding a sign not having frontage on a road.
This item comes before the Board because a Hearing Officer does not have the power to suspend
roles. (This item made public notice 2 days late.)
Feel free to call Jon Dobosiewicz or me with any questions at 571-2417.

Docket No. 04050017 ADLS Amend
BZA Hearing for Front Signage
Attn: Planning Administrator
Please allow this letter to act as a written request to have our Zoning request heard by
the Board Administrator only, and no the entire board. We are making this request based
upon the following information;
The variance we are requesting is based upon the Special Committee hearing, wherein
the approval of the signage was based upon the City of Carmel's approval of a variance
to the standard layout for signage along the front face of the building. The Special
Committee specifically requested that the graphics be broken into three elements so that
they could be more architecturally balanced across the front face of the building. This is
the basis of our request.
In a discussion with Angie Butler, who was present at the Special Committee meeting,
she informed us that the board would support our request, and we have Special
Committee approval already recorded. Therefore we are requesting to have this by the
Board Administrator only, as it is now a matter of procedure to obtain final approval.
We appreciate your assistance in this matter and look forward to working with the
city for this new facility.
