Dear Ms. Cordray, Advisors
Tim Green
Thank you so much for a few minutes of your time to highlight the importance of renewing your Heroes Club Chief
membership. As a Carmel business person and resident just like you, I have had the pleasure of living here Carmel Police Department
for over 16 years and have never been more proud of and grateful for of a city's public safety services as I Keith Smith
am ours. Desiring to express my appreciation, I joined the Heroes Club in 2002. Today, I would like to urge Chief
you to again partner with me in membership and keep the Heroes Club's legacy of community's support and Carmel Fire Department
heartfelt appreciation alive and well. Further, if willing, we would love you to join us in spreading the word to Mark J. Bowen
other potential Heroes Club members outside this letter's reach. sheriff

The Heroes Club was formed in 1996 and remains a 100% not for profit agency with an all- volunteer staff.
Quite simply, we are a group of Carmel private citizens and businesses organized to honor and thank those
who "put it on the line" for us every day —the brave police and firefighters serving the city of Carmel and
Clay Township.
In 2011, nationwide, 87 firefighters and 173 police officers were killed in the line of duty. While we remain
extremely fortunate none of these losses were in Carmel, we know a public safety officer's selfless mission
could, at any time, result in the ultimate sacrifice —a death in the line of duty. So, how do we show our
gratitude for all they do to keep us safe?
Here's how. The Heroes Club funds a $150,000 life insurance policy for any firefighter or police officer
serving in the city of Carmel or Clay Township who loses their life in the line of duty. Funds permitting, we
also provide grants for special safety equipment and training. To date, the Heroes Club has given $95,000 in
grants to our community's safety departments.
We also sponsor an annual golf outing. This year we will host our 15th annual outing on Wednesday,
September 12, 2012. Please mark your calendar for this fun event and join us along with many of our local
police officers and firefighters at Brookshire Golf Course. Watch the mail in July for a brochure detailing
the event.
As you can see, the Heroes Club is truly a great way to show your support for our city's finest. All
contributions, including membership fees, are tax deductible. So, please visit our new Web site at
www.carmelheroesclub.org. There, you can renew via a secure credit card payment. You can also mail us
your renewal membership with your check. Again, we would love your continued help in achieving our
mission of support for our community's protectors. If you are aware of others who may wish to join the
Heroes Club, please feel free to direct them to our new Web site or contact Jennifer Fedor at 317 208 -3683
for additional membership brochures.
Sincerely,
Lb
