Petitioner, please note the following:
1. This Item will not be on an agenda of the Technical Advisory Committee.
2. Mailed and Published Public Notice needs to occur no later than Friday, February 18,
2005. Published notice is required within the Indianapolis Star. Note: the BZA Hearing
Officer meeting will begin at 6:30 pm.
3. The Proof of Notice will need to be received by this Department no later than noon,
Friday, February 25, 2005. Failure to submit Proof of Notice by this time will result in the
tabling of the petition.
4. The Filing Fee and Nine (9) Informational Packets must be delivered to BZA Secretary
Connie Tingley no later than Noon, Friday, February 18, 2005. Failure to submit Informational
Packets by this time will result in the automatic tabling of the petition to the Monday, March 28,
2005 agenda of the BZA.
5. This Item will appear on the February 28, 2005 agenda of the Board of Zoning Appeals
HEARING OFFICER under Public Hearings.
6. The petitioner will need to provide a fully filled-out Findings-of-Fact sheets for each
petition the night of the meeting for the Board's use (Sheet 8). On Ballot sheets, only fill out
docket number, petitioner, and date (Sheet 7). Ballot sheets must be collated.
7.) PETITIONER: refer to your instruction sheet for more details.
Petitioner' please complete the following items:
1.) Make sure the public notice meeting time to the newspaper and neighbors reads 6:30, not 7
pm
2.) After certified mailings, please provide the Dept. with a filled out, notarized Affidavit of
Notice of Public Hearing (page 6).
3.) Make sure information packets have all necessary items, such as renderings, site plan, etc.
4.) Please mark sign location on the site plan.

Dear Jon:
Carmel Clay Schools is requesting an additional institutional sign be included as part of the
referenced Project honoring former principal, Dr. William Duke. As we discussed in a recent
telephone conversation, on behalf of Carmel Clay Schools, we request this item be forwarded and
reviewed by the hearing officer, instead of proceeding through the entire Board of Zoning Appeals
Hearing process. This request is for 1 additional sign, and is consistent with variances previously
approved for the Project in 2003.
We have included 2 copies of the standard variance application package for your use. We also
discussed in our telephone conversation limiting the number of adjacent property owner notifications
to those on the east side of the building, where the proposed sign is located. We have enclosed the
listing of property owners and site diagram showing those we identified.
Please advise if we need to be present for any meeting with the hearing officer, and when that is
scheduled to occur. Feel free to contact us if we are missing any documentation, or if you have any
questions.
