1. THE PLANS SHOW THE LOCATION OF UTILITIES LOCATED WITHIN THE LIMITS OF THE CONTRACT
ACCORDING TO INFORMATION PROVIDED BY THE VARIOUS UTILITY COMPANIES, PREVIOUS
CONSTRUCTION PLANS AND AS EVIDENCED BY OBSERVATION OF ABOVE GROUND CONDITIONS
BY THE SURVEYOR. THE ACCURACY OF THE INFORMATION IS NOT GUARANTEED.
2. IT IS THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO NOTIFY AND COORDINATE CONSTRUCTION WITH
ALL RESPECTIVE UTILITIES.
3. EXCAVATIONS EXCEEDING TWENTY (20) FEET IN DEPTH REQUIRE THE DESIGN OF A TRENCH
SAFETY SYSTEM BY A REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER.
4. SEE PLUMBING DRAWINGS FOR CONTINUATION OF UTILITIES INTO BUILDING.
5. SEE DETAILS ON SU2.1 FOR PIPE BEDDING AND BACKFILL DETAILS.
6. ALL PAVEMENT CUT DUE TO UTILITY INSTALLATION SHALL BE PATCHED WITH A PAVEMENT
SECTION WHICH MEETS OR EXCEEDS THE EXISTING PAVEMENT.
7. CONTRACTOR SHALL SLEEVE ALL PIPING AT FOOTINGS AND SLEEVES SHALL BE WATER TIGHT.
8. WHERE WATER LINES AND SEWERS CROSS AND THE WATER LINE CANNOT BE PLACED ABOVE
OR BELOW THE SEWER WITH A MINIMUM OF 18" VERTICAL CLEARANCE, THE SEWER MUST BE
CONSTRUCTED OF WATER WORKS GRADE DUCTILE IRON PIPE WITH MECHANICAL JOINTS WHEN
WITHIN 10' OF THE WATER LINE. THE WATER LINES SHALL BE INSTALLED ABOVE THE SEWER
WHERE EVER POSSIBLE.
9. WHERE WATER LINES AND SEWERS RUN PARALLEL AND A MINIMUM SEPARATION DISTANCE OF
10' CANNOT BE MAINTAINED, THE SEWER MUST BE CONSTRUCTED OF WATER WORKS GRADE
DUCTILE IRON PIPE WITH MECHANICAL JOINTS.
10. SEE SITE ELECTRICAL FOR SITE LIGHTING CIRCUITS AND SITE ELECTRICAL LAYOUT.

12. ALL STORM SEWER CASTINGS SHALL CONTAIN A MESSAGE AT THE TOP OF THE CASTING
STATING "DUMP NO WASTE-DRAINS TO WATERWAY."
13. FIELD VERIFY PIPE INVERT ELEVATIONS OF EXISTING STRUCTURES TO BE MODIFIED OR
CONNECTED INTO PRIOR TO STARTING INSTALLATION OF NEW STORM SEWERS. NOTIFY
ARCHITECT- ENGINEER OF ANY DISCREPANCY
14. SEE MEP PLANS FOR LOCATION OF NEW FIRE PROTECTION LINES, PIVs OR FDCs.

KEYNOTES
1. SANITARY PIPE TO BE ASTM-D3034, SDR-35 PVC.
2. ALL SANITARY SEWERS SHALL BE TESTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CARMEL UTILITIES
STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS.
3. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE 95% MODIFIED PROCTOR COMPACTION OF
SUITABLE FILL IN SIX (6) INCH LIFTS FOR ALL PORTIONS OF SANITARY SEWER
INFRASTRUCTURE.
4. MANHOLE OR CLEAN-OUT CASTINGS MAY NEED TO BE ELEVATED AFTER FINAL
GRADING TO ENSURE DRAINAGE AWAY FROM STRUCTURES. CLEANOUTS IN
SIDEWALKS OR PAVED AREAS SHALL BE FLUSH WITH PAVEMENT.
5. ALL ROUGH GRADING MUST BE FINISHED TO WITHIN 1 FOOT OF FINAL GRADE PRIOR
TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION OF THE SANITARY SEWER INFRASTRUCTURE
6. AT THE INSPECTOR'S DISCRETION, A CONCRETE CRADLE MAY BE REQUIRED FOR ALL
LATERAL OR UTILITY CROSSINGS.
7. ALL BENCH WALLS SHALL EXTEND TO THE CROWN OF THE HIGHEST INFLUENT PIPE.
8. DRAIN PIPE SHALL INCLUDE ALL ELBOWS, WYES, FITTINGS AND MATERIAL
NECESSARY TO CONNECT DOWNSPOUTS TO DRAIN. INDIVIDUAL DOWNSPOUT
CONNECTIONS SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF 8". PVC SHALL BE ASTM D3034 SDR35.
9. CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT STEVE COOK WITH CARMEL WATER AT 733-2855
FOR ALL INSTALLATION AND INSPECTION REQUIREMENTS RELATED TO THE WATER
LINE WORK.
