CARMEL PLAN COMMISSION SPECIAL STUDIES COMMITTEE DEPARTMENT REPORT DECEMBER 6, 2011 8. Docket No. 11110014 ADLS Amend: Flair Hair Salon Signage The applicant seeks approval to place one suspended ground sign on the property. The site is located at 230 N. Range Line Rd. and is zoned B -1. It is located within the Old Town Historical Range Line Rd. Sub Area. Filed by Vanessa Suiter of Express Graphics on behalf of the owner. The applicant seeks approval to place a new suspended ground sign on the property. It will be 3' x 4' in area and 7' tall in height. This meets the Sign Ordinance regulations. The colors will be a brown background with white text and tan graphics "behind" the business name. IT will have a black border and the post will be painted white. The sign will be two sided. The Department only has one concern with the design and that is the name may be hard to read with the design in the background. If there is a way to make the design more faded, perhaps the name would stand out more. Petitioner, please confirm that the sign will be landscaped and if it will be lighted. If the sign is being placed in an existing landscaped bed, could you please provide a photo of the bed? Please view the petitioner's informational packet for further detail. Recommendation: After all comments /concerns are addressed, the Dept of Community Services (DOCS) recommends positive consideration of Docket No. 11110014 ADLS Amend. 5
