This is an outline specification. in case of conflict, the standard specifications and procedure policies of the respective governmental agency or utility company that has approval authority over the specific matter in question shall govem. 2. The Indiana Department of Highways Standard Specifications - 1588, (IDHSS), are the bask materials and reference specification. The sections noted below for various items are to clarify the intent of the requirements for this project. Please note that other sections of these Standard Specifications may also be applicable. 3. The Contractor shall coordinate and confirm with Owner that all permits and approvals are obtained from the respective, private, City, County and State agencies prior to starting construction. It shall be the responsibility of the Contractor to comply with the conditions set forth within each permit. 4. Each subcontractor shall contact INDIANA UNDERGROUND PLANT PROTECTION SERVICE INC., 1- 800 - 382 -5544 and all other utility companies to field locate all mains, conduits, service lines, etc. in the construction affected area prior to starting construction. Existing utility structures are shown here in accordance with available information at the time of design. The location and protection of utility structures and facilities is the express responsibility of the Contractor in the performance of the Contract and in the preparation of his bid. 5. It shall be the Contractors responsibility for notification and coordination of all construction with the respective utility companies and with inspectors from all governmental agencies having jurisdiction over certain portions of the work contained herein. 6. It shall be the responsibility of the Owner and Contractor to maintain quality control throughout the project. Failure to do so may result in the removal and replacement of the defective work. It is required that the Contractor have a qualified superintendent on the job site at all times during construction. 7. It is essential that the work to be done in conjunction with this project shall be installed according to these Plans and Specifications. The Engineer will be required to certify to certain portions of this project upon completion. Therefore, it is necessary to obtain approval and acceptance by appropriate City, County and State agencies that construction was done in compliance with these plans and specifications. Any damaged or defective work will be the Contractor's responsibility to contact or replace. All changes in Plans shall be reviewed with the Engineer prior to implementing changes in the field. 8 Each subcontractor shall be required to maintain records of all as -built drawings and construction activity for his work component during the construction process. All as -built drawings shall be submitted to the Engineer promptly upon completion. 9. The designation A.S.T.M. shall refer to the American Society of Testing and Material Standards. The latest revision of A.S.T.M. standards shall prevail. 10. Temporary structures required by the Contractor for offices, storage and other purposes in the performance of this Contract shall be located and erected only with the approval of the Owner and shall be promptly removed and premises cleaned of all debris upon completion of the Contract or as directed by the Owner. 11. Contractor may make use of electricity and water available on site but shall pay all cost for connection and disconnection of temporary lines. 12. Contractor shall provide toilet facilities on site. 13. Work performed shall be barricaded in such a way as to prevent pedestrian injury. 14. Contractor shall keep all t,,,isting streets, walks, and parking areas adjacent to the site free from debris and mud during construction. 15. As part of the completion of this project, the Contractor shall remove all temporary structures, materials, equipment, and debris from the site. Walks and other hard surfaced areas shall be swept and washed clean. 16. The Contractor shall verify all grades, lines, elevations and dimensions as shown on the drawings and report any errors or inconsistencies in same to the Engineer prior to commencing work. Stakes disturbed by the negligence of the Contractor shall be restaked at the expense of the Contractor. SECTION 01020 - QUALITY OF WORK 1. Perform all work in the most workman line manner and according to the best standard practices. Ail work shall be free from faults and defects in workmanship and materials. 2. Contractor shall be solely responsible for quality control of the work and shall maintain quality control over suppliers, manufacturers, products, services, subcontractors, site conditions, and workmanship to produce work of specified quality. 3. Required testing and inspection are intended t o assist in determination f P probable compliance of the work with the Contract Documents but do not relieve contractor or subcontractor of responsibility for those compliances. Specified testing and inspection are not intended to limit contractors quality control program. SECTION 01040 - SAFETY 1. Contractor shall take all necessary precautions for the safety of persons and the protection of the work and adjoining property. Contractor shall comply with all applicable provisions of federal, state and local safety laws and building codes. 2. Contractor shall erect and property maintain at all times, as required by conditions and the progress of the work, all necessary safeguards for the protection of the employees of contractor, his subcontractors, Owner and its lessee, Owners other contractors, members of the public and for the protection of the work and adjoining property. 3. All workmanship shall comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration Standards, (OSHA). 4. Contractor shall not pollute streams, lakes, reservoirs or soil with fuels, oils, bitumens, calcium chloride, acids insecticides, herbicides, or other harmful materials in a manner inconsistent with all governmental laws pertaining to said materials. The Contractor shall investigate and comply with all applicable federal, state, county, and municipal laws concerning pollution of rivers, streams, soil and air. SECTION 02110 - SITE CLEARING 1. Scope of Work Clearing and grubbing shall consist of cutting, removal and satisfactory disposal of all trees, down timber, brush, projecting roots, stumps, rubbish, boulders, broken concrete, fencing (as designated), and other material on the project site. 2. All debris generated from the clearing operations stated in Item 1., above, shall be removed and legally disposed of off the project site. 3. Materials shall not be disposed of by burning unless approved by the local Fire Marshal, all governmental agencies having jurisdiction over said matter, and the Owner. The Contractor shall bear the responsibility for obtaining all required permits required to conduct burning operations. 4. Traffic: Conduct site clearing operations to ensure minimum interference with roads, streets, walks, and other adjacent occupied or used facilities. Do not close or obstruct streets, walks, or other occupied or used facilities without permission from the appropriate governmental agency. 5. Protection of Existing Improvement: Provide protections necessary to prevent damage to existing improvements indicated to remain in place. A. Protect improvements on adjoining properties and on Owners property. B. Restore damaged improvements to their original conditions, as acceptable to the parties having jurisdiction. SECTION 02210 - TOP SOIL REMOVAL 1. The Contractor shall remove all topsoil in the areas to be occupied by roads, parking areas. walks, buildings and designated future building fill areas. Topsoil shall be removed to a depth of six (6) inches or deeper, if necessary, to remove organic vegetative matter where required. If available, refer to Soils Report for approximate topsoil thickness. If site has been recently stripped, the remaining topsoil shall be removed to a depth required to remove all roots as required by the Soils Engineer, Street Inspector, if any, Engineer or Owner. 2. Topsoil shall be kept separated from suitable fill materials an shall not be used as fill under pavement and building areas. 3. Topsoil shall be stored at a location where it does not interfere with construction operations. 4. Topsoil shall be reasonably free from subsoil debris, stones, etc. 5. Topsoil shall be spread over all areas to receive seeding and landscaping. Landscaped islands shall have a minimum of four (4 ") inches of topsoil and seeded or sodded areas shall have a minimum of six (6`) inches of topsoil spread. 6. Excess topsoil to be stockpiled in the areas designated on the Grading Plan, or removed from the site if directed by the Owner or Engineer. 7. Removal from Owners Property: Remove waste materials, including surplus excavated material, trash and debns, topsoil, and legally dispose of it off the project site unless otherwise directed. The location of the dump and length of the haul shall be the Contractors responsibility. SECTION 02220 - EARTHWORK Scope of Work Extent: The work required under this section consists of all excavating, filling, rough grading, backfilling and related items necessary to complete the work indicated on the drawings and described in the Specifications. 1. In general, the items of work to be performed under this section shall include: fill compaction and the rough and finish grading operations over the entire site as indicated on the Plans including subgrade preparation and grading of streets, building pads. parking areas, drainage swales, walks and general cut & fill. 2. Proof Rolling: shall be performed on all street areas. parking areas. floor slabs and future building areas subsequent to topsoil removal and prior to placement of fill matenals. Soils Engineer and /or Street Inspector, if any, shall direct method of proof rolling. Contractor shall coordinate proof rolling operations with Soils Engineer and/or Street Inspector, if any. Any areas containing soft, yielding or otherwise unsuitable materials shall be undercut or stabilized by approved methods directed by the Soils Engineer and/or Street Inspector, if any. Replace unsuitable soil materials on site in the area designated by the Engineer or Owner and seed as noted. "Unsuitable soil only" bury pits which are approved by the Owner and Engineer in advance and which are located in non - structural fill areas that are not restricted by other easements may be utilized to waste unsuitable soil and unused topsoil. Any suitable fill material obtained from the excavation of said approved bury pits can be utilized for site fills Contractor will be compensated for excavation, replacement and disposal of unsuitable soil materials for soil other than that which is noted on the Plans based on the Contract unit price for Common Excavation applied to the volume of the undercut excavation area removed by direction of the Soils Engineer and /or Street Inspector. if any 3. Fill Material: shall consist of earth obtained from cut areas, borrow pits, or other approved off -site sources. Earth shall be free from large rocks, vegetable matter and other deleterious substances. Fill obtained from off -site sources shall be approved by the Owner. The fill material shall be placed in layers not to exceed six (6) inches following compaction. Contractor shall be responsible for aerating wet material and adding water to excessively dry material so that the final moisture content of the cohesive fill material will be within the range from Optimum Moisture Content of minus 2.0 percent to plus 1.0 percent as determined by the standard proctor maximum dry density test method ( AASHTO T -99). All fill beneath paved areas, floor slabs and future buildings shall be compacted to at least 95% of the standard proctor maximum dry density ( AASHTO T -99.) If applicable, see Soils Report by dated for soil conditions and fill recommendations. 4. Perform earthwork grading and finishing operations to establish required elevations and dimensions as designated on the plans. 5. Place topsoil to minimum depths indicated on the landscape plan(s) in each respective area. Place topsoil in layers not to exceed six (6) inches in depth following light compaction and develop smooth planting surfaces. Subgrade shall be scarified to a depth of 3" to 6" before topsoil is spread. Remove all vegetation. stones. rots and rubbish from topsoil and rake to even surface. Carefully spread topsoil to meet walks, curbs, paving, adjacent properties and be free of low spots. Contractor shall be responsible for insuring that surface water drainage swaies shown on the plans are uniformly finished graded to the designated minimum slopes and elevations. 6. SECTION 02510 - STREETS AND PARKING LOTS 1 Scope of Work The work required under this section includes all concrete and bituminous paving and related items necessary to complete the work indicated on the Plans and described in the Specifications, including but not limited to: • All streets, parking areas in Contract limits, • Curbs and Gutters. • Sidewalks. • Sign foundations, concrete slabs and exterior steps. 2. Construction within Right -of -Way: All street construction within the ones of dedicated right -of -way shall be in accordance with the requirements of the Indiana Department of Highway Standard Specifications (IDHSS), latest revision. and the Hamilton County Highway Department. 3. Grading: Perform any necessary grading to that previously accomplished in accordance with SECTION 02220 - EARTHWORK. to bring subgrades. after final compaction, to the required grades and cross - sections for site improvement. 4. Preparation of Subgrade: Contractor shall perform all top soil removal operations for street. building pads and parking areas pursuant to SECTION 02210 - TOPSOIL REMOVAL and shall perform proof rolling and earthwork construction operations pursuant to SECTION 02220- EARTHWORK and to the requirements stated in Section 207 of IDHSS. per latest revision S. Compaction of Subgrade: All roadway areas. building pad areas and parking lot areas (including areas beneath the curbs), regardless of whether they are located in Cut of Fill, shall have the first six (6) inches below final subgrade elevation compacted to 100% of the maximum dry density as determined by the provisions of AASHTO T -99 Water shall be prevented from standing on the compacted subgrade. 6. Acceptance of Subgrade: The Earthwork Contractor shall coordinate the preparation of the subgrade with the appropriate governmental agency (Street Inspector, I any), the Owner, and the Paving Contractor. Subgrade shall be inspected and tested by the Street Inspector, if any, prior to pavement construction. The condition of the subgrade as finally and acceptably prepared shall prevail at the time any paving material is placed thereon. Prepared subgrade damaged for any reason prior to acceptance by the Street Inspector, if any, and Paving Contractor shall be repaired by the Earthwork Contractor at no additional cost to Owner. Approved subgrade shall be paved with the initial H.A.C. base course within one day after acceptance by the Street Inspector, if any and /or the Paving Contractor. Approved subgrade damaged for any reason after acceptance by the Street Inspector, if any, and/or the Paving Contractor shall be repaired by the Paving Contractor at no additional cost to Owner or the Earthwork Contractor. Should the Paving Contractor refuse acceptance of the subgrade, he shall notify the Earthwork Contractor and the Owner of the deficiencies. Should the Paving Contractor fail to notify the Earthwork Contractor and the Owner of any deficiencies and/or proceed in the placing of the H.A.C. base course, said actions shall constitute acceptance of subgrade by the Paving Contractor. 7 Utility Structures: Earthwork Contractor shall cnecK for correct elevation of all manhole covers, valve oozes and similar structures located within the areas to be paved, and make, or have made, any necessary adjustments in structures. Paving Contractor shall verify the above prior to placing pavement materials. Adjustments to utility structures required after placement of paving materials shall be the responsibility of Paving Contractor. 8. Bituminous Pavement: All materials and construction methods proposed for the construction of bituminous pavements shall comply with Section 403 IDHSS, per latest revision. The front face of curbs shall be tack coated where H.A.C. pavement will be in contact. Unless specific approval is granted. paving will not be permitted during unfavorable weather or when the temperature is 40 degrees F and falling. 9. Tack and Prime Coats: if the previously constructed course is granular and a prime coat is required, priming shall conform with applicable provisions of Section 408, IDHSS, per latest revision. The tack coat on H.A.C. base or binder shall conform with requirements set out in Section 409 of IDHSS, per latest revision. 10. Compacted Aggregate Base Course. shall conform with material and construction method requirements set out in Section 303 of IDHSS, per latest revision. The thickness shown on the Plans is the minimum thickness of the fully compacted aggregate base course. Compaction shall be accomplished by rolling with a smooth wheeled roller weighing 8 to 10 tons. Compact to 100% of maximum dry density in accordance with IDHSS Section 304.05, latest revision. Along curbs, headers, and walls and at all places not accessible to the roller, the aggregate material shall be tamped with mechanical tampers or with approved hand tampers. 11. Pavements built by stage construction, that is pavements used to carry traffic before the full pavement structure is in place.. will have each stage used by traffic inspected by the Street Inspector, if any, for distressed areas before the next stage is started. Distressed areas will be repaired to the satisfaction of the Street Inspector, if any, before additional stage is constructed. 12. Concrete: Plain concrete pavements shall be constructed in accordance with Section 501 of IDHSS, per latest revision. Concrete shall be ready -mixed concrete and shall be a mix of proportioned fine and coarse aggregates with Portland cement and water. Minimum cement content shall be 6 bags per cubic yard of concrete and maximum water content shall be 5.5 U.S. gallons per sack of cement, including moisture in the aggregate. Slump for normal weight concrete shall be a maximum of 4 inches and a minimum of 2 inches. The slump of machine placed concrete shall be no less than 1- 1/4 inches nor more than 3 inches. Standard test A.S.T.M. C -143 shall be used to measure slump. Compressive strength of concrete shall have air entrainment of 5% to 8% by volume per A.S.T.M. C- 260. Re tempering of delivered concrete will not be allowed. Concrete shall be composed of: A. Portland Cement: Conforming to A.S.T.M. C -150, Type IA or Type IIIA. B. Aggregates: Conforming to A.S.T.M. C -33. C. Water. Shall be clear and free from injurious amounts of oils. acids, alkalies. organic materials or other deleterious substances. 13. Welded Steel Wire Fabric: Where required for concrete reinforcement shall conform to A.S.T.M. A- 185, 14. Premoulded Joint Filler. Shall be non - extruding type meeting A.S.T.M. D -544, except that premoulded joint filler used in concrete walk construction may be either non - extruding or resilient. 15. Placing Concrete: A. Subgrade, Place concrete only on a moist, compacted subgrade or base free from loose material. Place no concrete on muddy or frozen subgrade. Refer to SECTION 02220 - EARTHWCRK and requirements pertaining to subgrade described within this Section. B. Forms: All forms shall be free from warp, tight enough to prevent leakage and substantial enough to maintain their shape and position without springing or settling when concrete is placed. Forms shall be clean and smooth immediately before concreting. C. Curing_ Concrete: Except as otherwise specified, cure ail concrete by one of the methods described in Section 501.17 of IDHSS, per latest revision. 16. Concrete Curb and Gutter shall conform to requirements set forth in Section 605 of IDHSS, per latest revision. A. Expansion Joints: Shall be 1/2 inch thick premoulded at ends of all returns and at a maximum spacing of 100 feet. Said expansion joint materials shall be installed at curb storm water drainage inlets where the concrete will abut the metal castings. B. Contraction Joints: Unless otherwise provided, contraction joints shall be sawed joints spaced 20 feet on center. C. Finish: Tamp and screed concrete as soon as placed, and fill any honey combed voids. Finish square comers to 114 inch radius and other comers to radii shown. D. Cunn : Concrete curbs shall be cured with white membrane compound according to Section 501.17 (e) of IDHSS. per latest revision. 17. Concrete Walks and Exterior Steps: mall conform to Section 604 of IDHSS, per latest revision. A. Slopes: Provide 1/4 inch per foot minimum cross slope. Make adjustments in slopes at walk intersections as necessary to provide proper drainage. B. Dimensions: Walks and steps shall be one course construction and of widths and details shown on the Plans. C. Finish: Screed concrete and trowel with a steel trowel to a hard dense surface after surface water has disappeared. A PP I Y m ed ium broom finish and scribe control joints at 5 foot spacing. Provide 1/2 inch expansion joints wh e re s i dewalks intersect, and at a maximum spacing o f 48 feet between expansion joints. D. Wheel chair ramps shall be provided as detailed in accordance with the Amencans' with Disabilities Act of 1990, (ADA) SECTION 02610 - WATER LINE 1. The policies and procedures promulgated by the Indianapolis Water Company (IWC) shall govern the connection and installation of water service lines on this project. Contractor shall contact IWC and determine requirements for main line connection, water meter pits, and to determine acceptable installation. testing and disinfecting procedures prior to submitting his bid. Water mains shall be installed to a depth so that not less than fifty four inches (54 ") of cover shall be provided. Refer to Architectural Plans for details of building connection. 2. Iron Pipe: The Fire Protection and Water service line for this project shall be a minimum of six (6) inch diameter Class 50 ductile iron pipe and shall meet AWWA C -150 and C -151 specifications. Pipe is to be cement lined and seal coated in accordance with AWWA C -104. Joints shall be push - on type, Tyton, Fastite, Super Bell -Tite, or approved equal, except at fittings, valves and special crossings. Joints shall comply with AWWA C -111. Flanged joints shall conform to ASA A21.10 or B16.1. 3. Fittings.: Shall be cast iron or ductile iron conforming to ANSI Specification A21.10, latest revision (AWWA C -110, latest revision). Fittings shall be designed and manufactured for a pressure rating of 250 psi. Fittings shall be tar -coated and shall be cement -lined in accordance with ANSI Specification A21.4, latest revision (AWWA C -104, latest revision). Fittings' joints shall be mechanical joints conforming to ANSI Specification A21.11, latest revision (AWWA C -111, latest revision). 4. Thrust Blocking: Shall be required at all turns in water line greater than 22 -1/2 degrees and at the termination of all lines and mains. Blocking shall be Class C concrete. Blocking shall be placed between solid ground andthe fitting to be anchored. 5. Sheeting and Bracina: Sheet and brace trenches as necessary to protect workmen and adjacent structures. All trenching shall comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration Standards, (OSHA.) 6. Backfill: Shall be in accordance with DCAM standard details and shall require granular backfill material for all trenches eccavated through paved areas to a point which lies five feet beyond the exterior edge of the pavec areas. 7. Horizontal & Vertical Separation from Sanitary Sewers: Refer to SECTION 02730 - SANITARY LATERAL CONNECTIONS, below, for separation requirements. 8. Identification Tape: Shall be installed for all buried water lines in accordance with the manufacturers installation instructions. Tape shall be installed one foot below final grade over the centerline of pipe. Tape fpr ductile iron pipe shall be inert polyethylene with a minimum thickness of 4 -mils and shall be 6 inches wide. ..0 -v SECTION 02620 - U'T'ILITIES (Gas Electric, Telephone and Cable TV) 1. Utilities: it shall be the express responsibility of each Contractor to verify all existing utilities and conditions pertaining to his phase of the work. It shall also be the Contractors responsibility to contact the owners of various utilities before work is started. The Contractor shall notify in writing the Owner or Engineer of any changes, errors or inconsistencies found on these plans or in the field before work is started or resumed. 2. If active utilities are encountered but not shown on the drawings, the Engineer and utility representative shall be advised before work is continued. 3. Inactive and abandoned utilities encountered during excavating and grading operations shall be reported to the Engineer and utility company. They shall be removed, plugged or capped as directed by the utility company and Engineer. 4. Rules and regulations governing the respective utilities shall be observed in executing all work under this section. 5. Granular backfill shall be required for all crossings under pavement areas except for utilities which are bored or pushed under street. 6. Conduit shall be required for all utility crossings under pavement areas. Contractor shall coordinate with each respective utility company for their required location and installation. Conduit shall be 4" PVC Schedule 40, or approved equal. 7. Existing storm sewers, sanitary sewers, water mains, gas mains, electric ducts, telephone ducts, steam mains and other underground structures have been shown on the plans according to the best information available to the Engineer at the time of design. The exact location and protection of these facilities and structures, their support and maintenance in operation during construction (in cooperation with the proper authorities of the utility involved), is the express responsibility of the Contractor in the performance of his Contract and in the preparation of his bid. SECTION 02720 - STORM SEWERS - Hamilton Countv Survevors Office 1. This is an outline specification. In case of conflict, the policies and procedures promulgated by Hamilton County Surveyors Office shall govern. All installation practices and workmanship quality standards as well as all storm pipe, storm structures and appurtenances shall conform to the requirements set forth by the Hamilton County Surveyors Office. 2. Storm sewer pipe shall be PVC in accordance with ASTM D -3034 (SDR 35) and ASTM 2321. The pipe shall be made of PVC plastic having a cell classification of 12454 -B. PVC joints shall be grooved bell and gasket. 3 All sewers shall be installed so as not to exceed the maximum allowable pipe strength per ASTM and manufacture's requirements. If additional strength is required for the probable live load condition, the contractor shall use a higher strength pipe. 4. All manholes. catch basins and inlets must be commercially manufactured with precast concrete. 5. Precast concrete and steel for manholes and inlets shall be in conformance with ASTM C -478, latest revision. Joints shall conform to ASTM C-433, latest revision. Flow lines, bench walls, voids between pipe and structure, and minor "hair line" crack repairs (with the approval of DCAM) must be formed with non -shnnk grout. Construct manhole & storm structure flow channels smoothly finished and of semi - circular section conforming to the inside diameter of the connecting sewers. Make changes in direction by true curves Provide such channels for ail connecting sewers at each manhole and storm structure. 6. Castings shall be as shown on the Development Plan for manufacturer, type of frame & grate, and model number. All castings shall br° Neenah or East Jordan approved equivalent. 7. Granular backfill shall be required for all pipe crossings beneath paved areas and around structures in accordance with the standard details shown. 8. All trench excavations deeper than five (5) feet are covered by OSHA Standard 29CIR 1926 Subpart P 9. Rip -Rap, if required.. particles shall be a minimum of 6" and a maximum of 17" in size and shall be placed a minimum of 18" in depth. Dimensions for np -rap shown on the plans are for reference only, Contractor shall be responsible for providing the quantities of rip -rap required to achieve the quality of work desired. Actual best placement of np -rap shall be determined by field conditions in accordance with Section 616 of IDHSS. SECTION 02730 - SANIT.ARY LATERAL CONNECTIONS - C.T.R.W.D 1. This is an outline specification. In case of conflict, the Clay Township Regional Waste District (C.T.R.W.D) rules, regulationsand and ail amendments made subsequent thereto, shall govern for all installation and materials. 2. The contractor performing sanitary sewer work on this project shall obtain the Building Sewer Connection Permit and shall perform the preparation of the application for said permit and pay for any required connection P ermit fees The costs for providing this service shall be included within n the contractors proposal amount. The contractor shall comply fully, as required, with all provisions pertaining the connection permit including, but not limited to the following: A) notification of C.T.R.W.D. inspection and quality control personnel, and B) prohibition against clear water discharges and construction dewatenng discharges into the sanitary sewer system. 3. Gravity sanitary sewer pipe shall be PVC in accordance with ASTM D -3034 (SDR 35) and ASTM 2321 The pipe shall be made of PVC plastic having a cell classification of 12454 -B. PVC joints shall be grooved bell and gasket. 4. Bedding shall be #8 crushed stone and shall be installed per Figure 7 -1 "Flexible Pipe Bedding Detail - PVC & HDPE Pipe" contained within the construction plan's Standard Details Sheet. 5. Backfill shall be in accordance with C.T.R.W.D. standard details and shall require granular backfill material for all trenches excavated through paved areas to a point which lies five feet beyond the exterior edge of the paved areas. 6. Building laterals shall be not less than six (6) inches in nominal pipe diameter and shall be installed in accordance with the detail that applies according to the depth of connection. 7. Water & Sewer lines crossings and separations shall be in accordance with Ten States Standards and local codes. A. Where waterlines and sewer lines cross and the water line cannot be placed a minimum of 18 inches above the sewer line, with a minimum cover of 48 inches, the sewer lines shall be constructed of waterworks grade cast iron pipe with mechanical joints. B. Where water lines and sanitary sewer lines run parallel with one another, a minimum of 10 feet horizontal separation shall be maintained. 8. PVC sewer fittings shall conform to the requirements of ASTM D- 3034 -89 specification. Fittings in sizes through 8 inches shall be molded in one piece with elastomenc joints an minimum socket depths as specified in sections 6.2 and 7.3.2. Gaskets for elastomenc joints shall be molded with a minimum cross - sectional area of 0.20 square inches and conform to ASTM F -477 specification. Fittings shall be manufactured by Harco or equal. 9. The minimum thickness or concrete encasement, if required, shall be six inches.
