HomeMy WebLinkAboutDaMECf IANICAL SPECIFiCATIONS 1. All mechanical work shall conform to the latest edition of the BOCA Plumbing and Uniform Mechanical Codes as ,adopted by the State of Indiana and all local codes as they may apply. Obtain all permits and pay all fees required by this work. 3. Do all excavation and backfill as required in accordance with the general conditions. 4. Sanitary sewer shall be piped from all plumbing fixtures, floor drains, cleanouts and other pieces of equipment requiring waste connections to a point five feet outside the building as shown on the plans. 5. Vent piping shall be piped froin all plumbing fixtures and other pieces of equipment or connections requiring vent, collected together, and extended up through the roof in a 4" minimum vent stack, not less than 12 inches. 6. All sanitary and vent piping in the building shall be PVC Schedule #40 ASTM -D -2665, with solvent cement joints ASTM -13-2564. 7. Furnish and install all outside underground sanitary sewers, including the pre -cast concrete grease trap, and extended to a connection with the sanitary sewer to be furnished and installed by others, including grade cleanouts at all turns and all final connections. 8. All sanitary sewer piping outside the building shall be PVC SDR -35 ASTM -D -3034. All water domestic piping above grade shall be copper type "L" hard, with lead -free soldered fittings, all underground water piping shall be type "K" copper, no joints below grade permitted. 10. Each fixture and piece of equipment shall be connected with stop valves and air chambers full pipe size at least 18" long. 11. All cold, hot water and hot water return piping above grade shall be insulated with 1/2" foamed plastic, 25 -50 fire rated. s supports, c rriers faucets 12. Furnish and install all plumbing fixtures and accessories, a , strainers, trim, chronic plated tail pieces and traps, stop valves, cleanouts, hose bibbs, as scheduled on the plans. 13. Furnish and install all the water heaters, complete with ASME relief valve piped to spill above the adjacent floor drain, or mop basin adjustable thermostat, glass lined tank, insulated metal jacket with baked enamel finish, drain valve, cold and hot water valved connections, gas burner or electric heating elements, suitable for 240 volts, single phase, electric service, as shown, sized and scheduled on the plans. 14. Furnish and install a 120 volt, all bronze, in -line recirculating pumps in the hot water return lines, complete with aquastat inserted in the hot water return pipe and isolated with b all valves, tom maintain a uniform quantity of of w at er in the piping system. 15. Furnish and install a new g is service into the building, and make all necessary arrangements with the local g, ,s company for this service and meter and pay all costs involved with this new service. 16. Furnish and install all gas piping in the building as required to extend gars from the new gas meter to all the furnaces, gas :cater heater and food service cooking equipment requiring gas connections, with schedule 440 black steel piping with 150# malleable iron fittings, through unions, dirt legs and stop valves at each piece of equipment. 17. All sheet metal ductwork shall be furnished and installed in accordance with NFPA #96 and the ASHRAE Guide and HVAC Duct Construction Standards as published by SMACNA. Ducts shall be constructed of galvanized sheet metal, including turning vanes, air extractors, back draft dampers, flexible canvas connections, manual dampers. 18. All duct joints shall be sealed with mastic material in accordance with HVAC Duct Construction Standards as published by SMACNA, Duct Sealing Requirements Table 12. Range hood ductwork shall be 16 gauge carbon steel with all seams and joints liquid tight continuous external welded from the stub collar on the hood to the wall exhaust fan. 19. Water heater vent piping shall be type "B" double wall vent piping equal to Metalbestos- QC. 20, insulate all ductwork above the ceiling in the unconditioned attic spaces with 2" minimum flexible fiberglass duct insulation complete with a vapor barrier jacket, sealed and taped as recommended by the manufacturer. 21. Furnish and install all grilles, registers, diffusers as sized and scheduled on the plans. 0 Balance air system within 10% of design air flow and submit test report to engineer. 22. Flue inlet and discharge stacks shall be 2" and /or 3" PVC or CPVC Schedule #40 piping, terminating above the roof Aith the proper termination device as furnished by the equipment supplier. 23. Outside air intake and discharge louvers, including inside birdscreens, will be furnished and installed by the general contractor. 24. Furnish and install the ceiling fans as shown on the plans, equal to Leading Edge Model HI TECH 11 56, with 56" diameter fan blades, 94 watt, 120 volt fan motor, variable speed fan switch with on -off feature, safety cable, 25,500 maximum CFNI, solid state motor speed controls, aluminum blades, die cast aluminum housing, finished with a corrosion resistant white epoxy enamel, electrostatically applied epoxy powder primer. 25. Furnish and install all the exhaust fans as shown and scheduled on the plans, including the wall mounted range hood exhaust fan, and the two packaged cabinet exhaust fans for the toilet rooms, equal to Penn Large Capacity Zephyrs, in -line type, with insulated housing, 120 volt direct drive fan motor with variable speed switch, galvanized steel housing, integral back -draft damper, vibration isolators on the fan motors, centrifugal type fan blades. 26. Furnish and install all supply fans as shown and scheduled on the plans, including the roof mounted range hood supply fan, and the four packaged cabinet supply fans to supply outside air to all the furnaces. The range hood supply fan shall be mounted on a level insulated curb extended from the sloping roof deck, and be mounted in a galvanized steel housing with a black baked enamel finish, and include a downblast belt - driven centrifugal fan, and four (4) 16" x 25" intake filters, motor operated damper, and ce mounted level on the curb. 27. The range hood itself will be furnished and installed by the kitchen equipment supplier. 28. Furnish and install a complete winter and summer air conditioning system as shown and scheduled on the plans, with condensing type high efficiency gas fired up -flow furnaces, direct expansion evaporator type cooling coils, direct or belt drive fan motors, a complete set of throw -away filters, remote outdoor condensing units with cc*anpressor, high -low pressure cutouts, starting capacitor and relay, 2 pole contactor, crankcase heater, ELECTRICAL SPECIFICATIONS PLUMBING FIXTURE SCHEDULE temperature switch and tinier, low ambient operating capability down to 0 degrees F., and Remarks WC- I pre - charged refrigerant lines. 1. 29. CiRC (i required for each water heater system) Hot water recirculating pump, with the capacity to PUMP circulate 5 gpm at 10 feet head with a I /12 hp, 120 volt, single phase motor. The pump shall be all bronze, B & G LR -15B or equal. Obtain all permits and pay all fees required by this work. Do all excavation and backfill required for the installation of the work. All conduit under floor slabs or exposed under five feet shall be galvanized rigid steel conduit. All ;onduit concealed in walls or above ceiling or exposed above five feet shall be EMT conduit. Minimum size conduit shall be 3/4" except low voltage or control conduit may be 1/2 ". Conductors shall be Type THHN, minimum # 12 gauge, copper, for power and # 18 gauge, copper, for control and low voltage. Connectors shall be Scotch -Lac for #8 gauge and smaller, split bolt type for larger conductors. Junction boxes shall be galvanized steel with removable cover plate or hinged doors, and shall be accessible. Outside wiring shall have weatherproof enclosures. Final connections to motorized equipment shall be "UA" Sealtite. Disconnect switches shall be heavy duty, NEMA I enclosure, fused with fusetrons. Wiring devices shall be ivory plastic. Wall plates shall be smooth ivory plastic. Swit,:hes shall be 20 amp, ­r rated, quiet type, single pole, three way and pilot light as indicated. Receptacles shall be 15 or 20 ampere, duplex grounded type. Furnish and install all light fixtures complete with lamps and ballasts as shown on the plans and a s scheduled. All ballasts shall be high efficiency electronic; solid state type. Fluorescent lamps shall be T8 cool white. Incandescent lamps shall be inside frosted. Furnish and install a new 800 ampere, 120/240 volt, single phase, three wire, underground electrical service from a new pad mounted transformer to a new 800 ampere main distribution panel, complete with 800a2P main circuit breaker and all the branch circuit breakers and spaces as indicated. The main distribution panel shall be service entrance rated, surface mounted, circuit breaker type as shown and scheduled on the plans. Furnish and install all the branch circuit breaker P c t b cake h n s a s shown c m a d scheduled on the plans, surface or flush mounted, with typed directory, bolt -in type design, with 20 ampere minimum breaker size. Furnish and install a concrete pad for the pad mounted transformer furnished and installed by PSI as shown on the plans, including incoming primary conduit and the secondary conduits and cables as shown on the wiring diagram. Underground service cables shall be type XI-iHW encased in PVC Schedule #40 conduit. Ground and bond the entire electric box and conduit system according to the N.E.C. to the water service piping. Furnish and install typewritten directories under plastic in frames for each and every circuit in the panelboards and the main distribution panel. Furnish and install ground fault interrupter type receptacles or circuit breakers for all circuits with receptacles in outside walls or toilet rooms or adjacent to sinks or other sources of water. Furnish and install semi - recessed wall cabinet unit heaters with the capacities as shown on the plans, equal to Markel Series 3420, 240 volts, single phase, UL approved, with built -in tamper -proof thermostat, dark branae finish, with the bottom at least 8 inches above the finished floor. Furnish and install all power wiring as follows: a. Condensing Units - furnish and install a weather -proof two pole fused disconnect switch and wire complete to the lin! voltage terminals of the condensing unit with the proper number of wires in conduit from a two pole circuit breaker in the panel indicated. b. Furnaces - furnish and install a tvo pole non -fused disconnect switch and wire complete to the line voltage terminals of the furnace with the proper number of wires in conduit from a single prole circuit breaker in the panel indicated. C. Water Heaters - furnish and install a two pole fused disconnect switch t,nd wire complete to the line voltage terminals of the electric water heater from a two pole circuit breaker in the panel indicate(!. d. Hot Water Recirculating Pump - furnish and install a motor starting switch with thermal overload protection and a neon pilot light, and wire complete to the line voltage terminals of the recirculating pump with the proper number of wire in conduit from the fused disconnect s Hitch to serve the adjacent water heater. e. Water Softener - furnish and insta!I a duplex receptacle and wire complete to a single pole circuit breaker in the panel indicated to serve the timer and control circuit associated with the water softener. f Kitchen Equipment - furnish and install special outlets, standard receptacles or outlet boxes, and wire complete to the line voltage terminals on the unit if it is to be hard wired to all outlet box, with the proper number and size of wires in seal - tite conduit, from a single pole or two pole circuit breaker in the panel indicated. g. Range Hood - furnish and install motor starting switch with thermal overload protection and neon pilot light for the range hood supply fan and range hood exhaust fan, and wire complete to the line voltage terminals with the proper number and size of wires, frog, a single pole circuit breaker in the panel indicated. Also, wire complete to the line voltage terminals in the range hood with 3 #12 in a 3/4" conduit from a 20a1P circuit breaker in the panel indicated. Also, wire complete to the fire extinguishing equipment furnished with the range hood as required. h. Exhaust Fans (2) - furnish and install a fused disconnect switch at the fan locations and wire complete with 2 #12 in a 3/4" conduit through a motor starting switch with thermal overload protection and neon pilot light located in Conference Room 104 from a 20a I P circuit breaker in the panel indicated. i. Supply Fans (4) - furnish and instal a fused disconnect switch at the fan locations and wire complete with 2 #12 in a 3/4" conduit through a motor starting switch with thermal overload protection and neon pilot light located in Conference Room 104 from a 20a1P circuit breaker in the panel indicated. j. Ceiling Fans - install the variable speed fan motor switch furnished by the equipment supplier and wire complete to the 120 volt ceiling fans with 2 #12 in a 3/4" conduit from a 20a 1 P circuit breaker in the panel indicated. k. Disposal - furnish and install a toggle switch in the wall above the backsplash and wire complete to the 120 volt disposal motor through a water flow switch with 2 # 12 in a 3/4" conduit from a 20a I P circuit breaker in the panel indicated. i. Aquarium - furnish and install three (3) grounded duplex receptacles as shown or required, and wire complete with 2 412 in a 3/4" conduit from a 20a l P circuit breaker in the panel indicated. M. Lavatory Faucet Sensors - furnish and install three (3) outlet boxes and wire complete to the line voltage terminals of the water faucet sensors with 2 #12 in a 3/4" conduit from a 20a I P circuit breaker in the panel indicated. n. Clothes Dryer - furnish and install a dryer receptacle and wire complete with 3 #10 in a 3/4" conduit from a 30a2P circuit breaker in Panel B. o. Clothes Washer - furnish and install a grounded duplex receptacle and wire complete with 2 # 12 in a 3/4" conduit from a 20a 1 P circuit breaker in Panel B. 31. Furnish and install a 20 ampere, 2 pole electrically held contactor in a Nema I enclosure, controlled by a photocell located above the roof and facing north, through a 2 pole test switch, and wire complete to the five (5) GLA parking lot pole lights with 3 #8 in a 1" conduit as shown on the plans. 32. Furnish and install a 20 ampere, 2 pole electrically held contactor in Nema I enclosure, controlled by the same photocell that controls the GLA's, and through a separate 2 pole test switch, and wire complete to the two (2) GLB play yard lamp posts with 3 #10 in a 3/4" conduit as shown on the plans. 33. Furnish and install a 20 ampere, 2 pole electrically held contactor in a Nema 1 enclosure, conk olled by the same photocell that controls the GLA's, and through a separate 2 pole test switch, and wire complete to the two (2) GLC flood lights with 3 #12 in a 3/4" conduit as shown on the plans. 34. Furnish and install all outdoor parking lot, play yard and building flood lights, complete with concrete foundation and anchor bolts as shown and scheduled on the plans. 35. Furnish and install weather -proof grounded duplex receptacles on the outside wall of the building along the sides of the gymnasium and wire complete with 2 # 12 in a 3/4" conduit through a photocell control devices located above the roof from a 20a l P circuit breaker in the panel indicated. 36. Furnish and install a complete fire alarm system, including a master fire alarm panel, semi - recessed in the wall behind the reception counter, and all the manual pull stations, ceiling smoke detectors, visual and audible fire alarm warning devices, duct smoke detectors and connection to the range hood fire suppression system, and wire complete with the proper number of wires in conduit. Fire alarm zones shall include the following: a. First Floor Manual b. First Floor Automatic C. Second Floor Manual d. Second Floor Automatic e. Range Hood f Furnace #1 g. Furnace #2 h. Furnace #3 i. Furnace #4 j. Furnace #5 k. Furnace #6A and 6B 1. Furnace #7 rn, Furnace #8A and 8B n. Three (3) spaces for future zones. 37. Furnish and install a new underground 2" PVC telephone conduit from the telephone pole as shown on the Site Plan, to a new 18" x 24" x 4" telephone panel in the Mech. Room 140, complete with pull wire. The telephone panel shall have a 3/4" plywood back board, front with latched door. Also, furnish and install standard single gang outlet boxes flush with the wall at each telephone outlet and extend a 1/2" conduit with pull wire up to an accessible location in the attic, or back to the telephone panel if necessary. Also, extend two (2) 1 1/4" conduits from the telephone panel up to an accessible location in the attic, complete with pull wires. 38. Do all cutting and patching required by the installation of this work. 39. Remove all items related to this work that interferes with new construction and patch surfaces as required and leave it a safe condition for other trades. 40. Remove all debris and surplus material front the premises as progress of the work dictates. 41. Clean all fixtures inside and outside and leave all equipment ready for painting by others.
