Dear Carmel Board of Zoning Appeals Members,
Carmel Seventh-day Adventist Church is requesting BZA Hearing Officer Approval,
under docket Docket No. 12090016 SUA to allow for a Church Parking lot in R-1 district. In
2007 they bought the property, 14445 Carey Road and currently are renting the existing house.
They hope to keep the existing house as long as possible, however, their Church membership is
growing and they find their current parking lot full on occasion. As a result, they intend to
expand the parking lot south into this property. They are seeking BZA Hearing Officer Approval
for the full parking lot rebuild at this time. Concurrently, they are seeking TAC approval of
Phase one, which includes expanding the parking lot up to the existing house. Future phases will
be submitted for TAC approval as needed.
The Church also is seeking approval under Docket No. 12090017 V to allow for
temporary gravel parking. This will only be on an as needed as the church continues to grow and
will only be temporary.
