RESOLUTION NO. BPW 11-21-12-02
A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING PRESENTATION OF PISTOL AND BADGE
WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works of the City of Carmel is empowered by IC.36-1-11-8
to declare items of personal property surplus items, and;
WHEREAS, pursuant to I.C.36-I-1 1-8 A transfer or exchange of property may be made with
governmental entity upon terms and conditions agreed upon by the entities as evidenced
by adoption of a substantially identical resolution by each entity. Such a transfer may be
made for any amount of real property, cash, or other personal property, as agreed upon
by the entities; and
WI-IEREAS, the Police Department of the City of Carmel has certain items that are surplus
property and that may be transferred and are valued at less than One Thousand dollars
($1,000.00) total,
NOW. THEREFORE, be it hereby resolved by the Carmel Board of Public Works
& Safety as follows:
1 service pistol, valued at Four Hundred sixty Dollars ($460)
1 badge, valued at Eighty Dollars ($80)
The above mentioned surplus items may be presented upon retirement of William R. Stites,
pursuant to the existing policy of the Carmel Police Department at the instruction of the
Chief of Police.
All of which is RESOLVED this day of November, 2012, by the Carmel Board of
Public Works and Safety. Hamilton County, Indiana

Dear Members:
I respectfully request Board approval to have the below listed weapon and badge
deleted from the Police Department inventory:
Glock Model 22, 40 Cal. Pistol
Carmel Police Department Badge/marked Retired
As has been the custom and practice of the City and Department, the weapon and
badge will be presented to First Class Master Patrol Officer William R. Stites, who is
retiring from the Carmel Police Department, with over twenty-three years of service to
the Carmel community, as a Carmel police officer.
