HomeMy WebLinkAboutCCPR-11-27-12 Carmel/Clay Board of Parks and Recreation Park Board Meeting ® 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2012 Monon Community Center East 1235 Central Park Drive East Carmel, IN 46032 The Carmel/Clay Board of Parks and Recreation will govern in a proactive manner as it applies to providing safe and well maintained parks, recreation facilities and programs in a fiduciary and responsible manner. The Board is a policy governing board, fulfilling its duties as mandated by state statute, putting the welfare of the citizens of Carmel and Clay Township first and enabling staff to manage the park and recreation system in a manner that reflects the vision and mission. Call to Order&Pledge of Allegiance `. . k6-,., 4 The meeting was called to order at 6:0;1°p m. at which tim'`eBoa'&President Engledow led the Pledge of Allegiance. ,': ;e .. 14 Public Comments • Presentation by Gregg Calpino of SEH of Ind ana, LLC regarding the Central Park North Master Plan Mr. Calpino stated that,he was'happy,to present the preferredialternative for the Central Park North Campus resulting from numerous meetings withhvarious;stakeholders; including, but not limited to, staff, general public, andfocus rou s<.Mr. Cal inorovided a brief overview using a PowerPoint g P g P p , ,4 g presentation as he shared the information collected Qc'er the past few months. With the growth in Carmel and�the surrounding area,there was'a definite�contcern about the existing trees (forest) and to keep as much nature as possible. A,ssfunds determine park development, a phasing plan was presented. There was`b`rief discussion after Mr�Calpino's presentation at which time he addressed questions from the Park Board Members. Mr.Calpino will return in January with the final master plan report for approval. �,', v LNy j. Action Items rt .. Clay Township Claim Sheet November 27,2012 Mr.Taylor made a motion to approve the Clay Township Claim Sheet as presented, seconded by IIIMr. Kirsh, and unanimously passed 9—0. Carmel/Clay Board of Parks and Recreation Tuesday, November 27, 2012 Monon Community Center • Discussion Items/Board Comments Board President Engledow brought up the need to set a date and time for the second meeting in December. After discussion, it was confirmed that the second Park Board Meeting in December will be on Monday, December 17, 2012, at 7:30 a.m. The meeting will be noticed accordingly and be held at the Administrative Offices. The only agenda item will be claims. Assistant Director Klitzing announced that the Luminary Walk, hopefully an annual event, will be Saturday, December 1, 2012, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Central Park. This free event will feature 1,700 candles throughout the lagoon and trails on the west side of the park. f ,117- Director Westermeier recently found out that the city wants paten a roundabout at 116th Street and Gray Road using acreage from Flowing Well Park. It was discovered`t at,this parkland may not be used for this purpose as the grant stipulates it may only bewused for outdoor recreation.
