GRIDPOINT HAS BEEN SELECTED TO BE THE ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (EMS)
SUPPLIER FOR ALL O'REILLY AUTO PARTS NEW CONSTRUCTION, AND RETROFIT
SITES. IT IS THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO INSURE THAT
THE ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM IS CORRECTLY INSTALLED WITHIN ALL
O'REILLY AUTO PARTS NEW STORE CONSTRUCTION SITES.
THE INFORMATION ON THE EMS SUPPLIED IN THESE NOTES AND DRAWINGS IS
INTENDED TO BE A GENERIC GUIDELINE. SITE SPECIFIC CONFIGURATIONS SHALL
BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PRIMARY ENGINEERING FIRM, AND O'REILLY'S
CONSTRUCTION DESIGN DIVISION. THE GENERAL INTENT OF THESE NOTES AND
DRAWINGS IS TO PROVIDE GUIDANCE TO THE INSTALLING CONTRACTOR, HAVING
OVERALL KNOWLEDGE OF ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS, HVAC, AND
ELECTRICAL CONSTRUCTION.
GRIDPOINT RESPONSIBILITIES:
GRIDPOINT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SUPPLYING TO O'REILLY AUTO PARTS, AT NO
COST TO THE INSTALLING CONTRACTOR, THE FOLLOWING COMPONENTS OF THE
EMS:
• ADM -1204 ENERGY MANAGEMENT CONTROLLER
• ADM -LCP - LOAD CONTROL PANEL WITH PHOTO -DIODE
• ADM -TS300 COMMUNICATING THERMOSTATS (1 PER HVAC UNIT)
• ADM -MPE - MULTI PURPOSE ENCLOSURE (1 PER 6 TS300s)
• 1 TWO WIRE HUB MODULE
• 20 AMP CURRENT TRANSFORMERS (1 PER INDIVIDUAL SIGNAGE LOAD)
• 150 AMP CURRENT TRANSFORMERS (1 PER HVAC UNIT; 1 PER RESISTIVE
HEATING LOAD)
• 400/600/1000 AMP CURRENT TRANSFORMERS (AS NEEDED FOR MAIN
SERVICE)
• 120 /24VAC -60HZ AUXILIARY CONTROL TRANSFORMER (AS REQUIRED)
• DUCT PROBE SENSOR (1 PER HVAC UNIT, 1 FOR OUTSIDE AIR
TEMPERATURE)
• ADM -ZSM - ZONE SENSOR MODULE (1 PER RTU /CONDENSER/HVAC UNIT)
• 1 - 25' RJ -11 - 4 CONDUCTOR PHONE CABLE
• 1 - 7' RI-45 - 8 CONDUCTOR CAT -5E LAN CABLE
• MAGNETIC DOOR CONTACT SWITCH (2 PER SITE)
• CONVENTIONAL THERMOSTAT INTERFACE CARDS (ONLY FOR CERTAIN
TRANE HVAC UNITS)
NOTE:
MULTI ZONE TEMPERATURE AVERAGING IS SUPPORTED AND AVAILABLE. IF THIS
FUNCTIONALITY IS NEEDED FOR SPECIAL APPLICATIONS, CONSULT PROJECT
ENGINEERING PRIOR TO KIT PREPARATION.
GRIDPOINT ENERGY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM NOTES:
GRIDPOINT SHALL PROVIDE TECHNICAL SUPPORT DURING NORMAL BUSINESS
UNLESS CODE REQUIREMENTS DICTATE THAT THE CLASS 2 CABLE BE EMPLOYEE LIGHTING: HOURS TO ASSIST INSTALLERS WITH TROUBLESHOOTING AND COMMISSIONING
ROUTED THROUGH CONDUIT, CONDUIT SLEEVES WILL BE INSTALLED UP THE EMS SYSTEM. TECHNICAL SUPPORT IS AVAILABLE BY CALLING (866)
INTO THE BAR JOISTS, OR ABOVE THE CEILING TILES. CLASS 2 CABLES
SHALL NOT INHABIT CONDUITS /WIREWAYS WITH POWER CONDUCTORS.
EMT CONNECTORS AND BUSHINGS WILL BE INSTALLED TO PROTECT THE
CABLING FROM CHAFFING AND ABRASION.
CIRCUIT BREAKERS:
THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATING THE
INSTALLATION OF DEDICATED BREAKERS TO SUPPLY POWER TO ALL
COMPONENTS OF THE EMS. THESE BREAKERS MAY INCLUDE, BUT WILL NOT
BE LIMITED TO:
• ONE - SINGLE POLE - 20 AMP /120V FEEDER FOR AUXILIARY CONTROL
TRANSFORMER(S): LABELED "EMS AUX POWER"
• ONE - SINGLE POLE - 20 AMP /120V FEEDER FOR LOAD CONTROL PANEL:
LABELED "EMS LCP POWER"
• ONE - TWO (OR THREE) POLE - 20 AMP BREAKER, AT SERVICE
ENTRANCE VOLTAGE, TO PROVIDE PRIMARY METERING VOLTAGE TO
THE 1204: LABELED "EMS METERING VOLTAGE"
• THE NUMBER OF POLES SHALL BE PREDICATED ON STORES MAIN
• SERVICE CONFIGURATION.
• ONE - SINGLE POLE - 20 AMP /120V OR 240V FEEDER FOR ADM -1204
INPUT POWER (IF PRIMARY METERING VOLTAGE IS 480V): LABELED
"EMS INPUT POWER"
CURRENT TRANSFORMERS:
ALL CURRENT TRANSFORMERS MUST BE INSTALLED AS DEPICTED IN THE
ATTACHED SHEETS. THE HVAC CT'S MUST BE INSTALLED ON PHASE "A."
WHERE MORE THAN 12 CTs ARE REQUIRED, CONTACT PROJECT ENGINEER.
INTERIOR LIGHTING:
AS DEPICTED IN THE ATTACHED SHEETS, THERE WILL BE AT LEAST THREE
INTERIOR LIGHTING ZONES. SECURITY LIGHTING, EXIT LIGHTING AND
EMERGENCY LIGHTING WILL BE ENERGIZED 24 HOURS. THE SECURITY
LIGHTING WILL INCLUDE A LIGHT INSTALLED ON THE EXTERIOR OF THE
BUILDING ABOVE THE DELIVERY DOOR.

THE MAXIMUM OPERABLE

EMPLOYEE LIGHTING WILL CONSIST OF APPROXIMATELY 50% OF THE
INTERIOR LIGHTING CIRCUITS. THESE CIRCUITS HAVE BEEN DESIGNED TO
PROVIDE SUFFICIENT LIGHTING FOR STORE OPENING, CLOSING AND
CLEANING OPERATIONS. THESE LIGHTS WILL BE CONTROLLED BY THE EMS
THROUGH THE LCP AND WILL BE ENERGIZED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
STORE'S OPERATING SCHEDULE. NOTE THAT THE LCP IS SUPPLIED WITH
NORMALLY CLOSED CONTACTS. WHEN THE POWER SUPPLYING THE LCP
CONTROL BOARD IS INTERRUPTED, THE CONTACTORS CLOSE AND ALL THE
INTERIOR, EXTERIOR LIGHTING AND SIGNAGE LOADS ARE ENERGIZED.
SALES LIGHTING:
SALES LIGHTING WILL CONSIST OF THE BALANCE OF THE INTERIOR
LIGHTING CIRCUITS. THESE CIRCUITS WILL BE ENERGIZED WHEN THE
STORE OPENS TO THE PUBLIC AND WILL BE EXTINGUISHED WHEN THE
STORE CLOSES.
EXTERIOR LIGHTING:
THE PARKING LOT, WALL PACKS AND SOFFITT LIGHTING WILL BE
CONTROLLED BY THE EMS THROUGH THE LCP. THESE LIGHTS WILL BE
OPERATED BASED ON LOCAL SUNRISE AND SUNSET TIMES AND ON THE
STORE SCHEDULE.
SIGNAGE SYSTEMS:
ALL POLE AND BUILDING MOUNTED SIGNAGE SYSTEMS WILL BE
CONTROLLED BY THE EMS THROUGH THE LCP AND A CONTRACTOR. THESE
SIGNS WILL BE OPERATED BASED ON AMBIENT LIGHT LEVELS, LOCAL
SUNRISE AND SUNSET TIMES, AND ON THE STORE SCHEDULE.
PHOTO -DIODE AND OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR INSTALLATION
THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR INSTALLATION OF THE
PHOTODIODE AND OUTSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE SENSOR. THE
PHOTODIODE AND SENSOR ASSEMBLY MUST BE MOUNTED FACING NORTH.

• SYSTEM MUST BE COMPLETELY INSTALLED AND READY TO BE PLACED
UNDER POWER
• ALL COMPONENTS MUST BE MOUNTED AND WIRED
• ALL DATA WIRING MUST BE PULLED AND LANDED
• ENSURE THAT CAT -5E HUB MODULE TERMINATIONS WERE NOT STRIPPED
PRIOR TO INSERTION INTO PUSH DOWN TERMINALS
• ENSURE THAT ZONE SENSOR MODULES ARE INSTALLED AS DENOTED ON M1
MECHANICAL SHEET, AND WIRED AS DENOTED ON ES2 WIRING DIAGRAM
• ENSURE THAT DOOR CONTACT SWITCHES HAVE BEEN INSTALLED ON REAR
ROLL -UP AND MAN DOORS, BEING TERMINATED AT THE TS300
THERMOSTAT CONTROLLING NEAREST HVAC UNIT TO DOORS
• THE LIGHTING AND SIGNAGE CIRCUITS MUST BE ROUTED THROUGH THE
LCP, WITH LOADS AVAILABLE FOR TESTING
• ALL THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING AND SIGN CONTACTORS MUST BE WIRED
• THE PHOTO -DIODE MUST BE INSTALLED AND PROPERLY ORIENTATED
FACING NORTH
• ENSURE THAT ALL CURRENT TRANSFORMERS HAVE BEEN INSTALLED WITH
THE CT LABEL FACING THE SOURCE, UPON THEIR CALLED FOR CIRCUITS
• THE HVAC SYSTEM MUST BE INSTALLED AND OPERATIONAL, AS CONDENSER
AND HEATING TEST RUNS SHALL BE REQUIRED
• THE SYSTEM MUST BE CONNECTED TO AN ACTIVE TELEPHONE LINE WITH
A DIAL TONE TO ALLOW REMOTE ACCESS AND PROGRAM DOWNLOADS
• PRIMARY LAN CONNECTIVITY MUST BE ESTABLISHED AND OPERABLE
INSTALLATION:
THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR VERIFYING THAT THE
INSTALLATION COMPLIES WITH ALL FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL BUILDING
CODES AND WITH ALL APPLICABLE SECTIONS OF THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL
CODE. THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR IS ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATING
THE INSTALLATION OF THE SYSTEM BETWEEN TRADES AND SUBCONTRACTORS.
NORMALLY, THE HVAC, TELEPHONE, AND ELECTRICAL TRADES WILL BE
REQUIRED TO INSTALL THE SYSTEM AND PLACE IT INTO OPERATION. IT IS
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT CONTROL AND POWER WIRING BE COMPLETED BY
LICENSED ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS.
