EXPLANA TION
The Kroger Company ("Kroger") is the owner of a parcel of real estate located at
the southeast corner of the intersection of Executive Drive and Rangeline Road. This site
is currently the home of a Kroger grocery store and pharmacy, and the common address
is 121 7 South Rangeline Road. Kroger desires to add a drive-thru serving the pharmacy
on the existing building. In order to do so, Kroger is seeking architectural design,
lighting, and signage approval for the proposed drive-thru and associated signage.
A pharmacy currently occupies the existing Kroger building. However, Kroger is
relocating the pharmacy to the southwest comer of the building and, to further serve its
customers, proposes to add a drive-thru for customer convenience. The exact location of
the drive-thru is detailed in this informational brochure. The building materials to be
used for the proposed drive-thru are consistent with the existing Kroger grocery store so
as to blend in with the existing building. The dimensions of the proposed drive-thru are
set out in the site plan contained as Exhibit 3 in this informational brochure.
The proposed drive-thru also contains signage necessary to identify the drive-thru
to customers. The proposed drive-thru will contain an identification sign which will be
located on the western elevation of the drive-thru structure. Details of this signage are
included in this informational brochure as Exhibit 8. Per the request of the Fire
Department, the drive-thru will also include traffic directional. signs on the southern and
northern elevations of the drive-thru structure. Signage details regarding the traffic
directional signs are also included as Exhibit 9 in this brochure.
We look forward to presenting the proposed drive-thru to the Special Studies
Committee at its August 3, 2004 meeting.
