Subject: Olive Garden - temporarily close south access to other's private drive
All,
I got a call this afternoon from Jack DeGagne and Mark Braun from Darden.
Their current approved site plan includes an entrance off of RCI’s private drive to the south. A part of
this easement agreement and agreements resulting from the previous sales of the property allow RCI to
have approval authority over Olive Garden’s site plan. In addition, the southern parcel of the Olive
Garden project is within Mayflower Park, and therefore requires approval from the Mayflower Park
organization.
Both RCI and Mayflower Park are refusing to approve Olive Garden’s current site plan due to the
increased traffic on both RCI’s private road (and the safety of RCI’s employees) and on Mayflower
Park’s roads. Apparently Mayflower Park sites something along the lines of the City having to take
ownership of the roads in order for Olive Garden to be approved.
Olive Garden’s immediate question is: Can they continue with the current proposed plan, but install curb
across that southern entrance, to hopefully be removed at some point in the future? They would still
provide the ingress/egress easement through the site that aligns with West Carmel Commons access on
the north. Obviously they would then only be working with one entrance into the site. They think that
they can possibly gain RCI’s approval by doing this.
Let me know your thoughts, and I will get back with Jack.
