Docket No. 04080019 ADLS Amend: Merchants' Square - Wendy's The applicant 'seeks approval for'a ground sign. The site, is located northwest of Keystone and 11 6th Street. The site is zoned B-8/Business. Filed by Charles Eitel of National Install, Ltd. for Wendy's. The applicant is .requesting ADLS Amendment approval of a sign. Please see informational packet distributed with the agenda. There are currently wall signs on the building that meet or exceed that allowed by ordinance in number. The proposed ground sign would require variance approval by 'the :Board of Zoning Appeals. The Department will only support the needed variance subject to the removal of one of the existing buil.ding signs. This is not a question of inadequate signage. This is a 'question of preference as to ~ign type. The Department requests that the applicant provide a sign rendering similar in design to the other ground signs in th,e area (Merchants Square and Merchants Pointe, see enclosed rendering). The Hardee's sign, as seen in the applicant's information will be replaced by a sign similar in design to the Merchants signs under a previous approval. . They were waiting for the end of the road construction proj ect to make the change. The Department recommends that the Special Studies Committee approve the request after all comments and concerns have been addressed.
